Colonel Mustard In the Parlor.
I’ve gone and done it again. A little living room redux. I can’t help it, and frankly I don’t want to. I’m a little like Amy Winehouse…ain’t gonna go to rehab, I say, no, no, no. Only this is slightly less dangerous – I just refuse to rehabilitate my re-decorating habit. I know I’m more than a casual user, but I just gotta do it now and then. The crazy euphoria I get from this just feels too good.

I’m calling this new incarnation, Colonel Mustard in the Parlor, with the Saarinen! I scooped up this fun little ochre-colored, velvet love seat on craigslist for a mere $85. It’s quite the comfy spot to curl up, read and relax, right in front of the fireplace. Well, at least, for now.
The Look, The Feel of…Linens.
I seem to be gravitating towards yellow again. I just picked up an ochre yellow, velvet love seat on craigslist over the weekend (pix to come) and now I’m looking to add some more splashes of the sunny color around the apartment. I quite like this handmade cotton tablecloth from Simrin at Velocity. And, it inspired me to look around for some more fun tablecloths and linens. People don’t use linens as much as I remember them doing as a kid. Then, you really set the table, and linens were traditionally almost always used. A bit old fashioned, and somewhat domestic, but nice!
Anthropologie has always got some lovely linens, in loads of pretty prints. I like this Tahitian print and Jackfruit (above) tablecloth, as well as this Springy green one called Mina (below).

I love to display my pretty dishtowels, too, all stacked up in a nice collection. Anthropologie is a great source for vintage looking beauties. I quite like these two, the Fantasia Dragonfly and the Bjorne Fruit dishtowels.
And, if you’re going to go all the way old school domestic, why not deck yourself out in a playful apron? They’re not just for the June Clevers of the world anymore. Here’s two cute ones, the Sparkle and Recipe Box aprons, also from Anthropologie.

Forget Santa’s Lap!
Have you seen that big old swan in the window display of the Marc Jacobs store in Pacific Heights? If y’all drop in from 11-5pm every weekend until Christmas you can have your picture taken in the swan for free. That’s way better (and considerably less creepy for us grown ups) than any old Santa’s lap. Go to the Swan – that rarely happens in normal life.
