You Can Go Home Again.

I’ll be honest here. I’m not that good at holidays. I think there’s a lot of expectations placed on people to make the perfect bird, to be the perfect guest, to make the perfect toast…and to remember to re-button your pants before getting up from the dinner table…you know the drill. So, I don’t usually go home. But this year I am…and I’ll be facing something vaguely similar to a Royal Tenenbaums tribunal. I could try and explain, but I think most of you probably have sordid stories of your own. I promise to do my best, and be grateful for the people I love. To look past all our flaws, including many of my own. But I do get the wing, damn it! That much I do know. I hope you all have a memorable day. I’ll see y’all back here on Monday. In the meantime, feel free to share what you’re grateful for.

Dolan’s Got Some Deals.

And so it begins. Ti’s the season for holiday shopping, so Esty sellers are doing their part to make shopping this Black Friday an indie, handmade and vintage shopping year! Mixed media artist Dolan Geiman has super-sized his sale, by marking down all items in Dolan’s store by an additional 10% to the already on-sale prices, and in addition, they’re offering free US Shipping and a free gift with all orders over $100. For more about Dolan Geiman and the abundance of his creativity, check out his website, too.

What The World Needs Now.

Artist Leigh Wells has a lovely new line of illustrated card sets in her etsy shop. Leigh’s new Hope Card Sets (they come in sets of four) are just perfect for the holidays, and also a wonderful message to send out for a happy New Year, as well as a celebration of the Obama Presidential Inauguration. And Leigh’s pretty new Love Cards are perfect for sharing anytime with your special someone. They are festive metallic gold gocco printed cards on luscious, soft printmaking paper. Blank inside, with a variety of envelope colors available.

Leigh’s shop is currently offering free US shipping on just about everything in her etsy shop, and all of Leigh’s original art is on sale at 1/3 off. If you want to mix your set of four between both the Hope and Love Cards, Leigh is happy to accommodate you. And, most materials for Leigh’s cards and prints are lovely reclaimed materials from SCRAP (Scrounger’s Center for Reusable Art Parts) in San Francisco. Donated usable materials from businesses and individuals at SCRAP get used instead of sent to landfill/recycling. All Leigh’s shipping materials reused or reclaimed, too.

Toasty!

I first heard about London-based Toast through the fabulous eagle eye of Mrs. French over at Bliss. It’s kinda chilly here today, so I felt like taking a gander over at Toast and seeing what cozy, toasty winter home wares I might find. Even though Toast is across the pond for some of us, all of their beautiful home wares (and clothes!) are available online. Snuggle up!

Sunday { Outside } the City.

I felt like finding myself immersed in nature this Sunday, so I took a drive out to a sleepy seaside town up north, Bolinas. San Franciscans know the locals who live in Bolinas like to keep it a sacred, secret place. To the point of taking down the directional sign every chance they get. There was no sign today, luckily but by now I just know where to turn left. Here’s a glimpse of a town that’s just a little off the map, and likes it that way.
