Sunday in the City.

Oh, what a gloriously sunny San Francisco weekend! I just love a sunny June day! It’s an unusual rarity this time of year here (and I’m not sure I want to chalk up this great weather to global warming, but something is going on), because they don’t call it June Gloom for nothing. But no fog here! I slept in a bit too much to make the farmer’s market at a decent hour, so I headed over to Chinatown to check out the produce deals. As always, an excellent adventure, with many bargains to be had. Here’s a look at some of the more exotic streets of San Francisco.

    Pretty pictures of China Town! Did you take them with your film camera? I was so intrigued by your article and photos about Soko’s that I had to go this weekend… amazing! Also went to a market called Ichiban Kan! So much fun! Thanks for your pictures and fun ideas!

  4. Beautiful photos! I visited SF several years ago, and I think China Town was one of the highlights of my trip. I really enjoyed it.
    Thanks for sharing these!

    Great photos of your Chinatown. I live in NYC’s Chinatown and it seems like the energy of SF’s is a little calmer. I love the colors that you captured.

    I love these Chinatown photos, but I have to say… I am sad you didn’t take any photos of the Pride Parade or festivities… It only comes once a year and I’m sure would have made for some *interesting* and colorful vignettes. Oh well, maybe next year…

    Thanks all very much!

    Jesse Lu – I love the spirit of the parade, but I am also really crowd-phobic. I can’t handle crowds well at all, but I’ve seen some great photos on flickr!

    Great photos!
    I want to be there!

  13. Martina says:

    Great photos and very clever too! I’ve visited SF twice and somehow didn’t get to Chinatown on either trip..darn! Next time maybe :)

    @Victoria:
    Oh, I totally understand. I get panic in crowds, too. I did manage to catch a couple glimpses of straggling drag queens out in the sunset though attempting to cross the muni tracks in 4″ stillettos. Yikes!

    love the lemon dippy.

    Love ‘em, as usual, victoria! Any of them going to make it into your Etsy shop?

  17. victoria says:

    Thanks everyone – you’re too kind to me!

    Uncle Beefy – Thanks! Not at this time, but maybe later! ;)
