Friday Food Files With Molly Watson: Berry Cobbler.

I can’t stop eating berries. I’m in Northern Minnesota. Wild blueberries are ripening daily and the raspberries just need another hot day or two (maybe three) before they come into their own. Foraging, harvesting, picking are the best ways to get our berries; we can use our precious opposable thumbs to move the berry quickly from plant to mouth.

If you’re lucky enough to come into several pints of berries (something that’s easy enough to do at a farmers market this weekend), try this buttermilk berry cobbler. The buttermilk biscuit dough is light on top and becomes delightfully laden with berry juices at the bottom. Don’t bother rolling out the dough – it would be tricky since it’s a sticky, sticky dough – just drop it by the spoonful onto the berries before baking.

Oohh!! Where in Northern Minnesota are you? I grew up on the Ontario/Minnesota border and spent many summer days in old logging roads picking blueberries. I’ll be there visiting my parents at the end of the month and am looking forward to bring home bags of berries! I love them in pancakes!
