peaceful retreat.

i discovered these beautiful images of an early Victorian house in new cross, london that is used primarily for a photo shoot location. i know it’s quite stark, but beautifully so, don’t you think? i might add a few personal touches, fabrics, books and artwork, but wow, wouldn’t this home be a peaceful retreat? and, a quite wonderful place to capture some great photographs!

beauuuuutiful. when can i move in?
I love the floors, the windows…the everything.
So lovely – gorgeous!
Lovely!! I want to live there!!
Very peaceful and beautiful. This may sound crazy to most, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I could live in it as pictured and be really happy. Although my life is really busy with my magazine & projects, I actually lead a somewhat simple life.
It’s so very beautiful. But weird to think of it just sitting there when people could be living in it. Not sure what I think of that.
It looks cold and barren to me. And despite the sparsity, there seem to be a lot of accidents waiting to happen– mirrors perched at angles where they could easily fall, that little side table positioned so it can get knocked over by the french doors, etc. It seems like the place was decorated for the photo shoot and not for actual living.
It makes me want to call the “stuff police” to clean the clutter of collections out of my home. I love the negative space in this home!!!
Oh my god, I must have shot in this location 100 times! So funny seeing it here! It is a great space for decorating, if you could see all the different looks it has had over the years, it must get redecorated, photographed, stripped, re-decced again on a weekly basis – poor house! Nobody actually lives there, just an Italian caretaker called Nimmo in the attic…
shooot!!! could i move in and be the caretaker??? :)
No, let me be the caretaker! Me, me! lol I think the space looks almost magical so empty – like the sort of place a princess would stumble upon in a fairy tale…
I love this place’s simplicity and sense of calm. And like you said, Victoria, if you actually lived there, little personal items would find their way in there – without taking away from the sense of serenity…. It does make me a little sad to think that this beautiful place has no people to call it home, though. I guess it must be used for shoots THAT often. sigh.
Beautiful interior, though…that’s for sure.

did i just experience heaven?
i would do just about anything for a few hours in that bathtub.
jeannine – ha! you can use mine sometime if you need it! ;)
so glad y’all like this place as much as i do!!
Wow, so lovely to see the photos, and even more, to hear from someone who actually shoots in the space. I was wondering to myself as I was beholding such beauty: man, can it *really* pay to have a house like that just standing empty, waiting for someone to come along and take photos in it? I guess it can !!
