guest post: jasmine fitzwilliam.
Well, good day to you, fine SFGBB readers! I’m Jasmine. It is my utter delight and great honour to be offered the chance to guest-blog for you while Victoria is away. Some of you may know me from my home, which was previously featured on Unexpected Guests. Hi! After a difficult time deciding on a blogging subject, I figured this brand new rock on my ring finger —

— gives me a good excuse to explore the subject of gettin’ hitched! I believe one can think of planning a wedding as one might think of designing a room (or, in my case, a brand, or a magazine). For me, when I envision a wedding, I really do imagine the magic space I might create. I should preface this post with the fact that Scott and I are really not in a rush to race down the aisle — but having never really thought about weddings before, I couldn’t resist a peak at what’s out there. I’m not much of a traditionalist, and I’m a ridiculously DIY kinda girl, so I’ve spent this evening browsing alternative, unusual and quirky weddings and wedding-ideas.

Favourite site so far? Definitely Once Wed. Super-sweet site design, DIY ideas, gorgeous photography and a wealth of inspiration for the more creative and quirky bride. Lots of other useful sites, but nothing comes close to the swoon-worthiness of this one! And, two favourite wedding invitations so far, I submit to you this delightful video — go take a peek, and this invitation rocks my world.
Upon exploring Flickr for wedding photographs, specifically, I became distracted by many images that weren’t weddingesque, but nonetheless got my heart all aflutter. I got to thinking about the mood boards I make when I redesign a room in my home… so I thought, why not put together a collection of photographs that convey the mood and magic I’d like to have at our jubilee? I’m sure there are women out there who have done something similar, but I would imagine they usually are collecting wedding-related images. Having found a myriad of incredible images that are not wedding-related per se, but are inspiring, I see no reason not to let these images drive my vision for that nutty day, down the road. Glowing picnic baskets… why not bring a little picnic to one’s wedding? Magical vintage typewriter? I sense a DIY centerpiece fiesta coming on!

So, my friends, you are witnessing the beginning of the mood boards I’ll be building over the next year or two of silly, sweet, happy things that will hopefully help me to be creative when planning our big ol’ shindig. May you be inspired as I was, whether you are planning a wedding, a party, or a night in with the cat and a bottle of scotch.
