As some of you may know, my dad has parkinson’s disease and has not been doing as well as we had hoped for some time now. I don’t normally ask for donations, but On November 1, 2009 my good friend Susie Rosenthal will run her 6th NYC Marathon. Once again, she is running in honor and memory of her father who passed away from the disease, and to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
She is so excited to return to the NEW YORK CITY MARATHON, TEAM FOX and to have fun and FINISH! We’re asking for your help in making a difference in the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease. Your support of Susie’s run helps The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research keep on doing whatever it takes to speed life-changing treatments and, ultimately, to find a cure for the nearly five million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s disease.

Ugh, my grandmother passed away earlier this year after battling Parkinson’s for many, many years.

Victoria, Susie, and Logan, I am so very sorry that this terrible disease touched someone you love. My finances have been quite stretched, especially right now (Economy, thank you very much indeed!) but I will find a way to contribute before the marathon. I’m sure that Susie will do everyone proud with her participation!

My husbands mother was diagnosed with Parkinsons a few years ago, and it is easy to forget she has it because it is only in the early stages (from the outside you cannot see her shaking unless you look closely at her legs, but it still very exhausting for her). We do not look forward to how it will affect her in years to come, hopefully with organisations such as the mjfox foundation and people like Susie, we can find a cure or a way to manage the disease better. Both my grandparents died of parkison’s, and I sorry to hear your Dad has it. I will make a donation after the 15th of Oct (pay day)! Thank you Suzie for raising money to help find a cure for this disease, and running the NYC marathon! Go Suzie!
