knit one. purl, two.

or is that purl bee? i love knitting. i’m not very good at it, in fact i only know how to knit, not purl — which is completely pathetic. my mum showed me how a few Christmases ago, and i found the left brain-right brain process so meditative and calming, i can really get into the ‘zen zone’ when i knit. the purl bee is the blog for the knitting & yarn shop Purl Soho based in new york city, as well as Purl patchwork their beautiful fabric shop, that carries wonderful designer fabrics like amy butler and miko oguro.

so, i can’t help but noticing, the weather is taking a turn for the chilly, so what better time to get knitting some winter warmth. purl bee has classes and workshops, but if you’re not in the area, Purl Bee also has online tutorials and patterns and lots of project ideas. BEST OF ALL, you bring your own voice into the conversation by posting comments and interacting with others at purl bee. check out some of these patterns and project ideas.

For some reason, for the past couple of days, I’ve been unable to view your images in google reader or when I open up your blog separately. Just thought you should know, because other people might be having the same problems too!
xo
Such sweet, sweet eye candy! I’m going to follow the Purl Bee blog – hopefully after enough tempting posts, I’ll pick up my knitting needles again.
I *adore* The Purl Bee! I wish I lived closer, but it’s so great to be able to keep up with them online.
mandi – yes – sorry! we are aware of the problem and hope to have it fixed by next week! we’re trying to discover what the problem is! thanks for your patience!
I love that dark gray scarf (on the chair, with the cherry blossoms), but I can’t find what project that is…can you point me in the right direction!!??
CHristine – I am looking for it – will post it as soon as I find it again! Sorry!
YES! I just relearned how to knit this month and have been itching to sit down with my yarn and make something sweet and little to fit the one on the way! Now to learn how to read patterns…
Victoria I hope you don’t mind. I’ve found that pattern for Christine (It’s been on my to-do list for a while lol). It’s the Checkerboard Lace Scarf, found here: http://www.purlbee.com/checkerboard-lace-scarf/
roxanne – oh thanks! i went searching, and was waiting to hear back from purl, but i’m glad you’ve found it for her. thanks!!
Yes, I have rediscovered crocheting and have been a “happy hooker” ever since. I have made some of the cutest granny square bags, totes and wine bags for my family and my shop. I am working on afghans now for Christmas gifts! Thanks for the post – enjoyed it!!
Thanks everyone for your searching efforts…I just put it on my project to-do list!
Love their blog! I’ve followed it for awhile despite the fact that I don’t knit (short attention span). They always have great project ideas even for non-knitters.
