fresh flowers for fridays.

when i was working my 9 to 5 ad land job, we had a lovely tradition on fridays – first hit the flower market, then the el toyonese taco truck for some super cheap tacos. i loved it. now that i’m self employed i could do this all the time. what the hell is wrong with me? must be the pj’s. note to self: get dressed in the mornings and you can then eventually leave the house. anyway, i digress. again.

so, today in honor of what i think is a lovely tradition of fresh flowers every friday (such a nice way to spruce up the house each weekend), i thought i’d share some lovely flowers as displayed in the sfgirlbybay flickr pool. they don’t have to be expensive — i think freshly picked ones from a morning walk are sometimes even the best.

lovely images. same for the idea of having fresh flowers at the end of a work week, for the weekend when many people are home more to enjoy them. i do enjoy so many things i find throughout your blog, but must object to the idea of “freshly picked” flowers taken on a walk. those flowers either belong to the homeowner/renter or to the parks and therefore everyone. please leave them alone if you’re not buying flowers in a market!

thanks for sharing and for allowing comments like mine. and happy weekend.

    thanks courtney!

kathy – i knew that was going to come up! i am in no way suggesting anyone steal their neighbors or parks flowers – i just meant the occasional wild flower you might come across on a hike or something. sometimes i pick weeds i like! sorry to suggest otherwise.

    thanks, victoria.

guess i was just reacting to a memory of having people pull flowers from our yard overnight, leaving us with little to show for all of our gardening efforts. and now that i don’t have a garden, i like to appreciate other people’s flowers when i’m out walking. there are many pretty floral temptations where i walk. and cupcakes, too. :)

happy weekend to you. i hope it includes some fresh flowers.

kathy – no worries. i can usually predict when i’ve stuck my foot in my mouth and i should have elaborated. nobody pick their neighbors’ flowers! :)

have a great weekend and stumble across only some lonely flowers that might be in need of a home! ;)

I dream of working from home, but also worry that I’d live in pj’s and never leave the house.

    The flowers are lovely!

Oh these are lovely. They make me feel wonderful on a crisp, sunny October afternoon while I take a break from the garden. And I’m so glad your images are showing up in Google Reader again! :)

I have the same problem…it seems if the bra doesn’t make it on by noon, there’s no chance of making it out that day!

Lovely pics. Flowers make me smile; esp. when they’re that special treat once a week.

Jesee Lu – glad we got that fixed too! and all should load faster, too!

Michelle – LOL! oh that made me laugh. i shouldn’t admit this, but i’m lucky if my teeth are brushed by 2. i mean, once you’ve had the coffee, what’s the point?

i promise to improve upon this, if for nothing else than my mental health. and oh, yeah and maybe for the sake of the poor UPS man who sees me in shambles daily. lord, what must he think?

HA! Totally. I think the UPS man must gossip about me at headquarters: “that girl who lives in her robe and Thorlos and always smells of garlic.”

You’ve come up with quite a beautiful collection of floral images. I work with ReadyMade and have found some great interior design
ideas using floral centerpieces as inspiration.
