100 words about design.
recently i was asked by blogger blaine hogan to write 100 words about home design. i get kinda wordy sometimes, so it was harder than i expected to be concise, and explain some of my thoughts about how i get inspired about how i design my home, but it came to me that i don’t often explain to you why i feature not just images of pristinely decorated interiors, but art, and a lot of photography. so when blaine offered me an opportunity to share a bit of an explanation with you i was excited, because you may not always understand why i post about some of the things i do, and what the reason behind it might be.
Today, given this chance at 100 words I hope to try and explain the direction of the blog going forward. I still primarily feature lots and lots of interior design ideas, but i’ve tried to expand on that a little, hopefully attempting to make an impression on the right side (the creative side) of your brain, to help you see things just a little differently. I truly believe that looking at artwork in its many forms can inspire you in ways you never thought possible, or can bring about an idea you may not ever have thought of before.

so here goes — 100 words: “I blog about inspirational, affordable interior design ideas that encourage your own individuality and unique personal style. Looking at artwork can inspire you in ways you never thought possible. So I feature photography a lot these days as a way to bring about a new way of looking at things, making an impression that might trigger ideas about how you might want to change your home decor. Photography can do that for you, and so I feature talented photographers and their work in the hopes that they may unravel a tiny new thread of an idea for you, something you may now see in a whole new light. I don’t often explain the method behind my blog madness, so this seemed like a good opportunity to explain. I hope it makes you think a little differently the next time you see a beautiful piece of artwork or photography.”

Love your description – I’m a new reader of SF Girl and appreciate your perspective! Love that you feature photographs/art to inspire new thoughts and ideas.

I like it and think you’re so on to something. I know I’m an associative thinker and for me, one thing leads to another, leads to another and so on.
