guest post: spot the difference?
[ guest post: Tea for Joy. ]
When I recently wrote about this house on my blog, Tea for Joy, I had to restrain myself from posting photos of almost every room (there are over 30 photos online – which include the most desirable garden house I’ve ever seen.) This house belongs to British photographer Paul Massey, whose home was recently featured as this Living Etc. home tour.

This all-white space is also available to hire as a location, and I thought it was interesting to see the small differences (above & just below) between the styled magazine shots and the more minimal portfolio images.

Want to make your own home magazine ready? Add some fresh flowers and food, strewn magazines for a lived-in look and textured throws for interest, and you are almost there’

It is so simple, airy and serene. I love it.

Yes! This is just perfect–that bedside shot and oh, that kitchen! I love the tiles and the island and . . . I could just keep going. Lovely.
Oh, it is crazy just how big of an impact some fresh flowers make! I need to never let my home go flower-less again.
great home, sooo happy and peaceful and fresh.
beyond even the added styling & lived-in touches, it’s interesting to note the difference in the way the photos were edited. a little less color here and a little more texture there.
great post!!
The kitchen looks almost identical to one currently featured in Living Etc’s current November issue. I really must thank a previous SFGBB guest blogger for turning me onto this magazine. It’s just one of best design/style mags out there. Lest anyone in the States be tempted to shell out for the full subscription price as delivered from the UK, though, you should know that some mega bookstores like Barnes & Noble have it on their newstand at the cover rate of $8.99–saves about $20 in shipping. (And that, folks, is my recession-friendly public service announcement for the day :)
this sort of stuff blows my mind. a “hastily” tossed throw (har) blanket and a certain angle makes everything just that more alluring, as well as flowers and such. i try my best to do that in my house. personal clutter is just as much a part of the decor as a designer such and such. plus, there’s just more realness to it. omg longest comment ever!
Thanks for the wonderful post Lynne!!
And thanks for the hot tip Roxanna!! Good advice!
I love Paul Massey’s home…One Summer, he went to France with his son in a camper van and spend the holidays driving from one place to another stopping at flea markets and junk shops…
