[guest post: dutch design from yvestown.]

Hello it’s Yvonne from Yvestown and I feel very honored to be your guest blogger for today, as sfgirlbybay is one of my favorite blogs to come to for inspiration and information.

I thought it would be nice to tell you something about Dutch design as I was born and raised in The Netherlands. The Netherlands is the home of quite a lot international designers like Tord Boontje, Marcel Wanders, and Piet Hein Eek to name a few. Eindhoven, the town of Philips, The Design Academy and PSV, is currently competing with Helsinki to become the design capital of the world. What I’ve heard last, at The Dutch Design Awards, is that they are making a very good chance.

But most design comes with a price tag and because of that I’d like to share some affordable Dutch design with you.

matter

Jurianne Matter
Jurianne is a paper artist. Her current collection consists of lovely lanterns, angels and wish boats. She also keeps a lovely blog over here.

hella

Hella Jongerius
You all know Hella’s Jonsberg vase for IKEA but Hella does a lot more. I’m absolutely in love with this vase and the Rotterdam chair.

engelpunt

Engelpunt
Engelpunt designs colorful and playful tablecloths, aprons and bunting.

tas-ka

Tas-ka
The Tas-ka girls design beautiful products for your home using fabric and wood. They also blog over here.

woodwoolstool

wood & wool stool
I also would like to plug my friend, Ingrid, and her wood & wool stools. Ingrid uses recycled wood and crochet to make beautiful stools. She also sells blankets and pillows and lots of other lovely crocheted products. Ingrid also blogs over here.

Most of these lovely items are for sale at BijzonderMOOI* a beautiful shop for Dutch design, ironically based in Eindhoven. They ship worldwide.

[ thanks again to guest blogger Yvonne from Yvestown! ]
