thoroughly modern 50.

oh, how i adore just everything single thing at modern 50. their inventory list is endlessly unique and full of hard to find vintage treasures. i’d love to spend a long afternoon scouring their warehouse, alas it is in sterling, virginia — but, perhaps one fine day!

until then, i picked out some of my favorite modern 50 items to share with you. modern 50 specializes in reclaiming salvaged materials, using uncommon combinations and adhering to a policy of delivering the unexpected and the unforgettable, from age worn civil war era finds, to mid-century modern and everything in-between.

so i “gasped” and then i rushed on over to their site, for i have never seen the orange rocker before with arms. i have the same one but without arms… i felt ‘heady and giddy’ with finding my rocker a friend. but alas, it is beyond my pocket money allowance for this month and let’s be honest the whole of 2010 :)
i got my little orange rocker for $12, i’m not sure the person selling it in the vintage mall was from this planet :)
That Victorian architect’s desk is a gem. Too tempting. What a fantastic site!
i know, tif. the prices are like, well ‘collectors’ prices. but i do love the eye candy!!
i just love browsing it!
I adore that delicate, spindly architect’s desk and industrial stool in the second to the last image…on second thought, I’ll take them all.
Beautiful!
Swoon…
My goodness. I would do terrible, terrible things to own that lovely, curvy metal-legged desk. For one, I would kick my Target desk to the curb.
Why Virginia, why??
Love all of the items!
oh! i want it all! especially the old dressmaker’s dummy. ♥
oooh, lovely items. and this place is only an hour drive from me, very tempting…
Such a cool vintage drawing desk! What a fun store you found!
Wow, amazing stuff. Thanks for the link!
I’m totally in love with the little grey filing cupboard, i wonder if i can will it to walk over to my house.
These pictures are BEAUTIFUL. I love this vintage, sort of decayed look. I guess it helps that I live in a sort of broken down, decayed looking city (New Orleans) and work in a museum on top of that! The medicine bottles especially remind me of things we have in our collection at work!
Thanks for posting this! I’m having fun browsing through all of the treasures on the site. :)
Wow.
These pieces are making my heart flutter!
Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous! I want those pharmacy bottles!!
I know aren’t they great! Actually I asked about shipping and they do it via Greyhound which makes it not all that bad. I wouldn’t cancel out a piece just b/c they are far.
