a frolic in sweden!

i recently came across some lovely and amazing interior inspiration, when chelsea fuss added her images to the sfgirlbybay flickr pool. chelsea, is a floral and prop stylist from Portland, Oregon and a blogger at Frolic!, a beautiful daily lifestyle blog. last year, chelsea was looking for a change of scenery and an adventure, and decided to realize a lifelong dream of visiting Sweden. ooooh, me too! one of things i love about swedish interiors is all that crisp white, and then those bright flashes of color everywhere you look – inside, and out.

the cottage chelsea stayed in is located near the landlord’s lovely house, and both the cottage and the home have grass roofs! both homes are built like old-fashioned Swedish log homes so they have a very historic feel to them — everything is whitewashed in that incredibly gorgeous, Scandinavian way — from the clapboard ceilings to the wood floors. This location worked perfectly for chelsea, since she photographs how-to stories for websites and needed an all-white backdrop, and the cottage made for a lovely one. you can see more wonderful styling from chelsea on her blog, frolic!

The property is located on the tiny but charming island of Resarö, 45 minutes from Stockholm and in the Stockholm Archipelago (if you’re not familiar this, it is a collection of 25,000 islands off the coast of Sweden), and one of the best bits? it’s actually available for summer rentals through this website!

and the landlord’s home is just as charming as the cottage, with lots of eclectic furnishings and each of the children’s rooms decorated cuter than the next, with b&w portraits of the three of them hung in contrast to all that yummy white. i think i need to put this cottage on my travel agenda, and right away! thanks again for sharing chelsea!

beautiful and fresh!
Thank you so much for the post, Victoria!!! I hope you make it over to Sweden!!
Totally delicious. I love the combination of styling and travel photography. But, ummm, not to be nit picky but the post’s title made me think this would be set in Switzerland! I guess Swedish Miss doesn’t have the same ring to it. ;)
thanks for allowing me to feature your beautiful images & adventure, chelsea!
melissa – i kept asking myself the same question – but swiss, and swedish are so close! ;) creative license, i suppose! lol! maybe i should fix that!
So Crisp and so fresh! I abosolutely love it!
i wish she would make a blurb book. i love every image.
oh chelsea, so cute! hope you come back soon!
so very pretty. love the idea of renting these places instead of a hotel.
Oh thank you so much for this tour! I just love it. Please stop by my blog where you can see many more lovely Swedish interiors and post on white interiors.
Hope to see you there soon!
My best,
Tricia – Avolli
I loved following Chelsea’s adventures in Sweden. So fun to see a collection of her photos together in a big post. Hope to make it to Sweden someday too!

Oh! The image of the loose fabric shade has me all a-flutter. I wonder if I there is anywhere in my house that I could make one of those work? Gorgeous!

i’m so glad to hear you liked this post. i really got excited working on it, and want to visit here so badly.
if you were going to stockholm, and this part of sweden, where else might you go on a two week trip? i need to familiarize myself better with this part of europe!
oh my….how I love it all!!! so beautiful and airy!
Wow, what a stunning location.
I’ve yet to head to that part of europe too – this kind of eye candy makes it very tempting indeed!

Absolutely.Dreamy.Like a fairy tale….whether Swiss or Swedish…..
the white is so refreshing and calming!
Hi there. I’d love to rent the cottage one summer but typing in Resarö doesn’t seem to find it. I could just be being a bit thick but are there any keywords I could use to find the cottage. I love both your blog and {frolic!}. Thanks!
Oops! Please ignore my last comment. I was being thick. I’ve managed to find it and am thinking about renting it in the summer if I have enough cash. Hurrah! And thanks for posting about it.
I love seeing swedish homes decorated with Ikea, it makes me so happy!!
I want to crawl into one of those beds right now!
Pretty, I’ve always wanted to visit Scandanavia, this looks lovely!
I might wake up there thinking I’ve died and gone to heaven!
