a while back i posted about the fabulous, and quite affordable ace hotel chain. ace is known for thrifted, vintage-inspired furnishings, and uncommonly fair prices, geared towards up and coming indie bands, artists and the like. you know, those of us who can’t spring for a big budget hotel, but like staying in fashionably stylish places, in locations like new york, portland, seattle and palm springs. i am still lamenting the fact there is not one (yet) in san francisco. pssst — are you listening, ace?

my dear friends, anna rowland, an art director at heat advertising agency in san francisco (where anna and i used to work together), and her husband bernard morris, the director of the color department at the north face, recently shared with me their stay at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in sunny palm springs. i loved their shots so much, i asked if i could share, and they graciously agreed. here’s a creatively wonderful peek at what it’s like to have a luxurious, and yet inexpensive warm winter stay at the ace palm springs. thanks so much for sharing, you guys!

Just yesterday, I had a yummy breakfast at King’s Highway at the ACE hotel in Palm Springs. I love that place. (V, Modernism Week is coming up: modernismweek.com. I’ve got a room with your name on it at the Palm Springs house if you’d like to come down.)

Gorgeous! I love this space. I’ve only seen the lobby of the hotel in New York, but I’d quite like to enjoy the warm weather at the one in Palm Springs! Stan

we have stayed there as well last august. hot but great. we have vowed to stay there every year from here on out. we stayed in a jr. suite that had one queen bed and two twins. we now will take along the kiddies next time. hop on a bike and stroll around the city. eat at the wonderful cafe on site. It is amazingly yummy. silly things like the body wash and the record players make this hotel chic and so memorable. It is a must!

This place is real? Really real? It’s so much fun! It’s worth the trip out to Palm Springs itself, I dare say.

yes, the ace is amazing but it really goes: ace seattle, portland, new york and palm springs. ace got their biggest start in the smaller cities. naturally, though, i think ace makes perfect sense in san francisco but you must come to portland for a visit!

We stayed at the Palm Springs Ace in November and it was absolutely amazing. The NY Ace is equally incredible. I love the Ace more than any other hotel ever, hands down.
