blissful inspiration
i love portraits. actually, beyond love, i am fascinated by them. i think there is something so magical about truly capturing someone in a photograph. i don’t mean simply snapping a photograph of someone posing with a pretty smile, i mean truly capturing the essence of a human being. part of my obsession with a beautiful portrait is the fact that i have yet to master this type of photography. actually, i have barely touched the surface. it’s on my list.
these portraits stopped me in my tracks and in some cases put a lump in my throat.
breathtaking, right? if you have a link to a beautiful portrait i would love to see. i hope all of you have a lovely thursday. xo mrs. french

Aw, thanks for putting my face up there :)

I agree – good portraits are the very best. So many mysteries and stories and emotions behind each face. Thanks for sharing these! Here is one of mine:

I took this photograph of my dad a long time ago, and maybe you would have to know him to feel it, but I think it captures him perfectly:

Thank you for sharing your favorites!
Great timing on this post. I recently ran across some old photos of myself and posted them on Flickr just a few days ago. They are more than 10 years old and I haven’t seen them in almost that long. I find it interesting in what you see in a portrait after so much time has passed. I look at this and think “what was I thinking, my stare is so intense!” http://www.flickr.com/photos/orngcatstudio/4307392439/in/set-72157623291766702/
My friend took this photo in Sarajevo and i think it is amazing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/notsexyenough/3162744766/in/set-72157611375289731/
I am always in awe of – and inspired by – my Flickr contacts who have a magic way with portraits (I just kinda bumble along myself, with some luck now and then). The following are just a few of my favourite pictures by people whose streams are full of glorious images!
