super what?

superbowl

Sorry, but I’m just not a big fan of football. I think it’s the ubër tight uniforms, grunts and all that slapping each other on the bum. And it hurts me just to see these guys slamming each other onto cold, rock-hard AstroTurf.  Give me a civilized game of tennis or a Tour de France, any day, or even some basketball. But that’s just me.

So, if you happen to be of my ilk, and in the bay area here’s a reminder. It’s the 1st Sunday of the month, so that means the Alameda Flea Market is on this Sunday! Skip the Super Bowl and the three-layer bean dip and hit the flea market. I’m hoping everyone’s home on their sofas and Lazyboys with a six-pack in their laps, so there’s lots of good bargains left to be had by the rest of ‘us’. Go team flea!

  9. Ana says:

Last year on Super Bowl Sunday there was nobody at the Flea Market, including vendors. Less than 30 showed up. It was also rainy. They did let us in for free though.

i so wish i could come along to the flea market, but instead i will be kept awake all night by a bunch of rowdy boys watching the superbowl in our livingroom… although saying that, i am quite pleased i picked a man who prefers american football to our football (soccer)!

    have a great weekend,

  16. I am SOOOO not a football fan. So I’m “super what?” all the way, too.

  17. Brigitte says:

Hehe…I’m in! I’m taking a glass blowing class on Sunday.

  18. Kelly Nolan says:

Footbowl = snoozeville. I do have a place in my heart, however, for the Puppy Bowl, shown at the same time as the Superbowl on Animal PLanet.

  19. Courtney says:

I do enjoy the NFL, but hitting up a flea market in lieu of the game is kind of tempting!

  20. Kelley says:

Wow! I would chose a flea market over football any day! Just wish Dallas, TX felt the same way! We do, however, have a wonderful Mardi Gras parade today in the Bishop Arts District that I’m looking forward to! So…I’ll be doing that this afternoon and then kicking back and editing all of the great pictures of the parade during the big bowl tonight…in between the commercials, of course!

  21. Just started a new Facebook fan group page for Alameda – check it out: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=334540675029
