vintage finds for a modern world: have a seat.

via souvenirs du passé récent.
as you may have come to realize, it’s true. i am a chair addict. do they have groups for this? yes indeed they do. but, why would i want to recover? unless of course you mean re-cover, as in reupholster. i just adore the shapes, the sizes, the absolute creativity some designers have put into their vintage-inspired chairs. especially mid-century modern designs. they’re not simply places to sit, oh no. they are shrines, to the mighty beauty that is ‘take a load off’ and have a seat. i love vintage chairs! and i am proud!

I am a chair addict too! I have so many that I don’t even know what to do w/ most of them. On the other hand, there is always a place to sit:)
oooh, i love that black+white striped lamp! xo!
these are soo cool! What a great way to modernize them.
yes, yes, yes, fantastic design!!!
Wow, these chairs make my heart ache. LOVE!!
Oh how I love good chairs!!! You always find the best photos of them too : )
These are all perfect. The ones via plainjane are my fave. So simple and yet oh-so-perfect! Perfect for sitting and sipping from one of the many bottles of vino in the filip001 image! Swooney swoon.
I am sending this post to my husband’s mother immediately. She is the president of the CANA: Chair Addicts Not Anonymous.
Wow totally retro…Love
Guilty! But hey, there are worse things to be addicted to. Wow that chair from sally cinnamon is to die for!!
Me too – Richard calls our place “The House of Many Chairs.” These are awesome finds!

What a great collection of photos! They all make me sad that I never figured out how to steal–sorry, buy– one or more of the fabulous Eames fiberglass chairs that we got to sit in during my art courses in college. I’m sure they’ve gotten rid of them by now and all I have to remember them by is a Polaroid I shot in a photo class. Boo hoo.
ah! this is feeding into my addiction too. what a great round up of photos.
I adored this post. I’m a bit of chair nut myself and my poor husband would agree. I’m always sending him out to the car to haul in some new chair that I’ve “rescued”. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
I growing up, my parents had a set like the ones credited “via plainjane.” above.
The first blog post of the day and just what I needed. Just makes me happy.
I love this post! several close friends noticed recently that i have a weird obsession with vintage chairs…i rarely leave the sunday flea market without a seat of some kind…its getting silly! i am so glad it isn’t just me. maybe i was a re upholsterer in a former life?
such a wonderful blog. totally inspiring!

Just…drool!
So we should start up a “Re-covering Chair-aholics” group?? :)
oh my, those metallic pillows in the first image are perfect!
i’m not ready to give up my addiction, so can’t yet be part of any ‘re-covering chair-aholics’ group that may arise…but keep me posted! :-) such fun to see my very own chairs on your amazing blog!
