guest post: the perfect time, from creative thursday.

Hello! or should I say Bonjour? It’s Marisa here from Creative Thursday writing to you from Paris.
I tend to go on {and on} about my thoughts on things, and life and such but I promised myself that on Victoria’s beautiful blog, I’d let the pictures do most of the talking. What I will say is this: There comes a point where waiting for the perfect time, becomes a decision that now is a perfect time.

After years of thinking about living in Europe part time, we {my boyfriend Sean and I} finally decided that now was the perfect time. Did we know how it would all come together, exactly? Nope, not at all. Were willing to take a chance and see if it would all come together? Yes, absolutely. And now to be honest, with one month of planning behind me, I still can’t quite believe I’m here writing to you from Paris, instead of Los Angeles, the city I usually call home.

You should know that when I say years, I mean ‘since childhood’ kind of years. With a mom from Germany, and most of my family still living there, the short visits I had growing up never seemed like enough time in a place that felt like a second home to me. Considering that it has always been a wish of mine to spend more time here in Europe, I’m sure it’s no accident that I have built a creative business online, one that allows me the freedom to not only travel, but live where I want to.

This is usually the point at which I tend to go on and on about what an amazing time we live in, filled with opportunities that never existed before, that encourage us to live a life filled with the kind of freedom many of us have dreamed of. And I know those you who follow Victoria’s blog, know exactly what I’m talking about. Enough said.

Only one week in, having traveled to England and now Paris, we’ve only barely scratched the surface. I’m honored to share just a glimpse of our adventure so far and I thought I’d share a collection of the colors that have been inspiring me. As an artist and designer, with a fierce love of color, it’s almost always what catches my eye right away.
So, do you have something you’ve been wanting to do? Maybe now is the perfect time?!
[ mercí to marisa from creative thursday for sharing her glimpse of london and paris with us! ]

Bravo to you for following your dream of travel! I love the pics and am going to follow all of your little links right now.
this post is so inspiring.
i would love to conquer the same dream!
Something like this happened to my boyfriend and i… we live in different places, 15 min. by car. We’ve been togheter for 9 years now, but we had our ups and downs, so we felt OK living apart. Last week he told me: what are we doing living like this? We’re always togheter, maybe we should stop fooling around and just live togheter. I couldn’t agree more :) Now it’s the perfect time, the reason: why not?
What an inspiring post!
I’m going to have a look at your website now :)

Beautiful photos, Marisa! I’ve always been inspired by you and honestly you were integral in my first steps out of the 9-5 job and into an artist life…I’m still far from my goals, but really happy the example you are showing – an artist thriving, right? Thanks for sharing as always and have fun…Europe is great isn’t it? :)
wonderful job going for your dream! that is how i feel about starting my blog and trying to pursue my art and craft wholeheartedly:)
Inspiring! Sometimes, you just have to stop going through the list of reasons not to do it — the one on perpetual loop– and just jump into it. Easier said than done. Absolutely. It is wonderful to hear that everything worked out so well.
Very inspiring post! Paris was always a dreamy place!xo

Moving to Portland, OR. That’s what we’ve been wanting to do but have not figured out all the hows. We have the whys down pat after years of dreaming. Maybe I am over-thinking the hows. Sure seems like it.
wow, fantastic, so glad you’re doing it melissa. we were in london + paris last summer, wish io was doing it again this year!
Thank you for this, Melissa. I quit my job recently, and everything that’s happened since then has validated my decision. I guess now was the perfect time.
