the house that jealousy built: the jealous curator.

i am super-duper, extra excited to introduce a new bi-weekly guest post — “the house that jealousy built” from danielle, the one, the only, the jealous curator. the jealous curator’s going to be popping in every other tuesday to share some house-envy with y’all! i’m so happy to have her joining the sfgirlbybay team!

hello! it’s me again, the jealous curator. i’m thrilled to be back on sfgirlbybay, working away on “the house that jealousy built”. i have great plans of decorating an entire home {ok, it’s a totally imaginary home, but a girl can dream!} from floor to ceiling, using only fabulous, jealousy-inducing art pieces. for  room no.1 i assembled my ideal living room, and today, i’m moving on to the kitchen — albeit a slightly over the top kitchen! so, with that said, put on a cute apron, grab a spatula, and let’s get cookin’ — the house that jealousy built — room no.2:

1) if you have this sculpture by swedish artist michael johansson, you really don’t need anything else. that’s right folks, it’s a table that conveniently comes with it’s own chair, plates, glasses, mixer, dish rack, whisk, juicer — and as you can see, the list goes on!

2) these upcycled tupperlights are a must for any respectable “kitschen”. now, i know it would probably be a bad design decision to hang all three styles — but I am seriously thinking about it {please don’t judge me}. {jeff risinger and mark winn II, aka boots n’gus}.

3) why use mass-produced plastic when you can use hand-embroidered organza? ooh, so pretty {lauren dicioccio}  4) “ i know how to cook” — and even if you don’t, at least this cookbook will look lovely on your counter {via book by it’s cover}  5) the most beautiful/hilarious plates that you could ever hope to put a piece of cheesecake on {esther derkx}.

6) i’m not sure if I want to hang this little collection of paintings, or eat them? mmm — {martha rich}.

yum! well, now i’m inspired, jealous, and just a little bit hungry. i’m off to make myself a snack, but I’ll be right back here in two weeks with another room. see you then! xo the jealous curator.

Plus, never heard the word Kitschen before! Love it.

The Thank-You bag is absolute genius. So magical! I’ve always wanted a reusable cloth version of the ubiquitous pink-with-a-flower bags, but this is a thousand times better!

  4. tess, lauren dicioccio actually has a pink with flower bag in her beautiful collection of work! i don’t think the organza would hold up to produce shopping, but it sure would be a beautiful art piece to covet!

  5. I love those little food paintings! I think the most interesting part are the circled words. I might just have to recreate and hang in my kitchen…
