down by the seashore.

one of my very favorite places on earth is martha’s vineyard, a relatively small and woodsy island off the north eastern coast. i love taking the ferry there and renting a bicycle for the week and just cruising into town and to the beaches, and generally just loafing and basking in the sunshine, or napping in the cool fog. martha’s vineyard is almost a bit like being at a lake house – it’s got that east coast vibe with woods and seagrass, much different than the california coastline, but equally as stunning. it’s just, for me, a bit more cozy and calm.

i’ve rented some pretty cute seaside cottages there, so today, i though a make-believe journey to the vineyard would be a nice escape. imagine a lazy day at the beach, followed by a nice outdoor shower, a nap on fresh clean white sheets and ending the evening with a lobster dinner with a nice chardonnay. ready? set? let’s go.

All of these photographs are just so amazing. A friend took a trip there recently and after I saw her photographs, I wanted nothing more than to get in my car and drive there. As is, I think I’m going to plan a nice little weekend getaway up there — in February (I love the slow seasons).

I’ve always adored attic bedrooms. They’re so cozy and romantic. A classic scene from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers shows the women dancing around in their attic bedroom… I grew up with that movie, so you can understand my affection for the lovely attic bedroom you showed here. The seashells were a delight for the eyes as well. Thanks for the post!
