European Chic: Loft style.

The lovely Ms. Smith, and yours truly, brainstormed about possible themes for European Chic’s november guest post and we both thought about European loft style. This fits my current mood perfectly as I have been blogging quite a bit about loft style recently. I like all kinds of loft styles from raw and unfinished to chic and polished as long as the lofts are uncontrived and not too aspirational.
I love the spiral staircase (via Marie Claire Maison) in the image above. I blogged about this loft in a former factory in the Paris suburbs on Monday. In Europe we often associate lofts with New York city but I think that we can hold our own. Let’s have a look at a couple of European lofts!

Germany via Freunde von Freunden.
This loft in Berlin is effortless cool but rough around the edges. I get good a loft vibe here. The owner had to start from scratch and install plumbing and everything else himself. Respect.

United Kingdom via Living etc.
This London loft is very polished and chic. I think the kitchen with the metal chairs and the golden mirror is my favourite room.

That kitchen in the last loft… seriously amazing.

That is fascinating that it’s BIG for Paris. Wow.

I’ve been looking for a couch just like the one in the third set of pics from the top – the big brown plush one. Anyone know who makes that??? Thanks : )
that sofa looks a bit like a retro/vintage find to me!
Quiver! Walls and walls of books. The ultimate book lover’s dream.
It’s funny, when I think of European housing, lofts do not come to mind. Thanks for broadening my perspective. I love the first picture with all the books. That’s my style.
