who doesn’t love a color-coordinated bookshelf? they add SO much to a room and this is a prime example. it’s funny, ever since I started doing this column on V’s blog I have really learned a lot about my personal interior style, which I’m not sure I ever really nailed down. i love the white couches, white walls and super bright details. like that pink dog or that striped ottoman! and that huge pendant light in the living room is so perfect to accent those colorful prints. I am currently house hunting and would die to find a space just like this one.
until next week!

“who doesn’t love a color-coordinated bookshelf?”
Well, I don’t, for one. I’m a librarian. I prefer a bookshelf arranged in such a way that you can actually find the books. Ha!
Who’d say fluorescent lamps could look so cool??
Love the colour coded book shelf, but it hasn’t worked for us….yet. Time to give it another go. This is a really great looking space.
My dream space! I LOVE the details.
Love the look!!! I wanna use it in my space :) guess that means book shopping
i can’t imagine having my books color coordinated!!!! how would i find them? has to be alpha by author :)
and i tried white and light slipcovers. the people that have them must have them in the wash everyday to keep them clean, because i found it impossible! still love the way it looks, though. a girl can dream, right?
because i am a visual person, i color coordinate my book spines too. i always remember the color of the spine, so i know where it is! :)
Katy & Alexandra: As someone who is both an avid reader and a very visual person (I’ve handily married the two in my career as a book cover designer!), I can say with complete honesty that I have NO trouble finding any book in my vast collection in seconds – and my books are organized by color. There are plenty of times when I can visualize color and size of the spine, but I’ve forgotten the title or author – but the reverse is very seldom true. I also break down which types of books are stored in which rooms in my house!
Not everyone has that kind of visual memory, but for those of us who do, it can be a very meaningful way to keep a sense of order in a large personal library.
how pretty is that color coded bookshelf? also, i love how the artwork is used to brighten up the white, simple furniture! so great!
so beautiful and unique!
