help japan.

the thoughtful folks at weiden + kennedy, a worldwide advertising agency with offices in japan, have come up with a creative way to aid japan’s relief efforts. they’ve designed these posters with 100% of the profits going to the relief effort for the devastating earthquake and subsequent massive tsunami that struck Japan. i bought a few, and i’m going to hang one of the huge posters in my front window as a show of support. what do you say, will you buy one, too?

Victoria, do you happen to know what the profits are on these? I’m just wondering, if I order one, how much money will actually go to the Red Cross?

(Don’t get me wrong … I really love the idea and intention. Just want to make sure that most of the money will go to the cause I want it to go to!)

  6. victoria says:

velika, weiden + kennedy has let their tokyo office determine which relief fund is most appropriate, and yes, it is the red cross.

    thank you!

  7. victoria says:

looks like they are back in stock!

  8. velika says:

Thanks Victoria! What I wanted to know, though, was, do you know how much money actually goes to the relief efforts? (For example, $20? $15?)

    Thank you!

  9. victoria says:

oh, sorry – 100% of the profits. :)

thanks Victoria, I have a dear friend with a new baby living in the affected area. It means a great deal to me that you along with other agencies, including the red cross, are keeping this horrible situation ever present in our minds.
    Sincerely,
    Michel Stong

    got mine yesterday.

  17. Birdy says:

I don’t want to be picky but this isn’t the color combination of the red cross – which is, as the name itself says it – a red cross on a white ground. Instead, this is the color combination of the national flag of Switzerland…

Nevertheless, nice idea and my thoughts to Japan!

  18. velika says:

Birdy, it is the flag of Japan with the cross in the rising sun.

  19. victoria says:

yes, birdy – this is the flag of japan:
