natural beauties.

west elm.

i’ll tell you the truth…i’m blogging from the hammock i put up last week in my backyard. i’m sorry if that seems like gloating, but i assure you, i work hard (it is sunday, afterall), so if i can work from a nice spot it makes all the difference! so i’m laying here thinking about what you might like to see tomorrow, and nature’s about all anyone around here has on their minds. when it’s nice out san Franciscans shed a ridiculous amount of clothing and walk around like it’s the mojave desert. so that’s what you get today – a round up of some natural beauties. from the handmade to the well-made, here ya go…

i love every single thing about pigeon toe ceramics’ beautiful indoor | outdoor string lights; more from west elm’s kitchen tools – test tube spice jars and pretty mortar and pestle.

spiced aviary collage by Leslie Oschmann for Swarm, via anthropologie; variety of vintage clothespins from anything goes here; and pretty cara milk cups (above) and london life utensil set (below), both from merchant no. 4.

beautiful acacia slab bread boards from west elm’s new kitchen line; prints from miles of light (nature is everything, top & forest bottom).

sarah foot’s stunning seaweed pendant lamp.

vintage wooden strainer from maison paulette; flatware tea towel from skinny laminx; mecedora custom-made low rocking chair from elemento.

I love your blog Victoria, absolutely love it. But I have to ask – are handmade and well-made mutually exclusive?

  2. Blogging from a hammock?! I am so jealous right now! Love the London Life utensil set- makes me want to pack a picnic (and hop a flight to someplace warm!)

I love the pigeon toe ceramic lights and after reading this post I daydream about fairy lit, blossomed outdoors with a comfy hammock and a bowl of fresh fruits.. you’re such a temptation!

This is a beautiful collection you put together! I love the textured, organic feel to everything.

And you are SO right about San Franciscans shedding clothing like a winter coat of fur. I have a friend who moved to SF from Korea several months ago; she was surprised to see girls lying around the park in bikinis last week.

Those Skinny Laminx tea towels are gorgeous, after following her blog for a long time I was excited to see them for real last week-end at the Ferry Building here in SF!

(This is my first comment here… I moved from Paris to San Francisco a few weeks ago so I appreciate your blog even more now!)

Ah, that inside info on SF’s early peelers made me laugh (knowingly). Parisians are on the same wavelength when it comes to those first spring rays. Saturday was crazy with tank tops (or less) and bare feet in sandals. Sunday it rained and the temperature dropped 8 degrees C°. So it goes…

Wow, I have to say I’m really impressed by West Elm lately! Thanks for the lovely post.

  14. Regarding San Franciscans and their penchant for little clothing on “hot” days: on one of our warmer days a few weeks ago–when lots of people were wearing shorts and tee shirts–I saw a man, naked except for a teeny, tiny, stringy, not-quite-hiding-anything thong, walking down the street. A busy street.
Ah, San Francisco! I love it!

  15. victoria says:

christina – lol! i see that now and then, as well. gotta love SF. ;)

I love glassware. Just wondering where can I find the first picture product? The one with glasses stacked top of each other? Love to know that. Would be great for pickles.

  17. victoria says:

kate – i received that image through the west elm press release, but am having a bit of trouble finding them myself. sorry about that!

What a great assortment of products! I absolutely love Pigeon Toe Ceramics and the Miles of Light prints, of course :)

So true about San Francisco. At the first hint of warm weather, everyone takes to the streets…because we never know when the next nice day will come.

Hi Miss Victoria! Thanks so much for including us in this lovely roundup. Just want to correct the link for the string lights – the photo is of our new Pleated String Lights but the link goes to our fall 2010 Disc String light design. Here’s the correct product listing:
