tuesday’s girl: new york style.

via rockstar diaries.
i’m headed to new york this friday for a week’s vacation…woohoo! i’ve never spent this much concentrated time in new york city, and had it not be for swapping homes with the lovely joanna goddard of a cup of jo, this kind of trip would not be possible (more on joanna’s place in the west village to come tomorrow!). i know i shouldn’t shop prior to leaving, but a few things are necessary, n’est-ce pas?? and, i quite like these ideas for running around in springtime new york.

i’m a pretty casual dresser, and the mondrian print dress, and this romanian dress from calypso st. barth both look comfy to roam around the city by day; maybe even worn over these ag tomboy cropped roll-up jeans; i love this hobo lauren wallet – i’ve been needing a new one desperately – somewhere to tuck all that money i’ll be spending! and i just kinda had to have these taupe-tied booties from anthropologie. those, i sprung for!

for evening, i think i can dress up this emersonmade tunic dress with a great bag – i like this yellow carica bag from anthropologie for a dash of spring color – and oh, how i’d love these dixon wedges from dear fieldbinder. add some baubles for evening and i think i’m good to go! i like these vintage drop earrings from three deluxe and this torus bracelet from anthropologie.

flight 001 is one of my favorite spots for travel accessories: i’d love to have one of these hideo blossom trolley bag; tune out the noise with these ultrafit ear plugs; and get some shut-eye on the flight with a F1 WILL RETURN EYE MASK; i will definitely need this streetwise manhattan map; perhaps a little woolite for those delicate washables; f1 check-in luggage tag (they better not lose my luggage!); and oh, man, how i’d love this fab carina zipper tote bag.

Im taking a trip to NY this summer for the first time! im so excited i think these are all great picks.Love the will return eye mask :)
Oh my gosh I love all of these things! Awesome picks! :)
I love the Mondrian dress! Have a great trip!
Bring a light jacket— it’s not that warm yet!
good to know, h.g.!! thank you! :)
i second the light jacket advice! regardless, NYC is amazing in the spring time. happy travels
NY is such an amazing city! Enjoy
yay! i hope the weather here treats you as well as SF did when i was there last month. =)
and the streetwise map is indispensable!
Have so much fun in NYC. Also loving the collections you put together, the dress, the jeans and the travel accessories are really nice!!
House-swapping is such a brilliant idea! And what an amazing looking wardrobe. Love all the dresses.
Love this as always! I adore my Emersonmade mod dress too.
I know you were asking for recommendations on places to go/see earlier but since you’ll be in my fav. area, W. village here are a couple. Best coffee: Joes on 6th ave and Waverly place. And Greenwich Letterpress is right near there too, 39 Christopher St between 6th Ave and 7th Ave, it is a really cute stationary store. Have fun! The weather has been beautiful here lately.
thank you all so much! this was fun to put together ‘virtually’ – now if only i could buy it all! :)
and, thanks so much for the tips, samantha!
Thanks so much for the inspiration – as always! Love, love, love your site.
Fab wardrobe picks. Those shoes are sweet! Happy days in NYC!
Love these looks you’ve put together! Have an amazing time.
I wore a similar outfit today, minus the heels. I wore a sleeveless, deep V tunich, rolled up skinny jeans, and ballet flats. I loved it. Have an amazing time.
Lucky you. A week playing in NYC is definitely a treat. Oh and that tote – a must have travel accessory.
Don’t forget to stop at the Lily O’Brien Chocolate Cafe for a treat! It’s one of my favorites. If it’s winter you can get a yummy hot chocolate and then go across the street to Bryant Park to watch the ice skaters. http://www.ashimmyinmyspirit.com/2010/08/lily-obriens-chocolate-cafe.html
I love everything about this post!
