a visit to the west village.

i’m still feeling a bit tongue-tied these past few days, and finding it difficult to dive in and blog, but i do have loads of photos to share with you from my trip to new york city. there are so many (i took a ton!), that i thought i’d share them in groups with you. this set is from around the west village where we were staying at joanna’s apartment of a cup of jo’s. not only was her apartment (below) fabulous, it was like we were dropped into the best neighborhood ever. here’s a look!

Love all your shots Victoria-our beloved NYC looks even better through your lens!
these are fantastic shoots! You are so amazing! I’m really sorry to hear about your dad. my thoughts are with you and your family.

This post is so well curated! Quite beautiful!
love! isn’t the west village the best?? i’m so happy for you that you were able to stay there.
sorry about your dad! it’s a tough time. jackie onassis said something once about the joy and sorrow in life being so closely mixed…….it’s hard to get one’s head around.
the pictures are lovely. yes, you were dropped into the best neighborhood!
Definitely one of the best neighborhoods in the city. It looks like you had a lovely trip!
Beautiful shots of NYC. Can’t wait to hear about your trip.
I know how you feel. I lost my mum to cancer a couple of months ago and I’m stuck in this strange quiet space. Mom was talkative and fearless and had a lot of personality so she left a big empty space behind. I know things will get better (and they will for you too) but its a slow process.
So, so cool. It makes me want to throw on a trendy little scarf (and not look like I’m bundling up for a coming snowstorm) and hop on a plane to NYC.
Absolutely beautiful – brings me right back.
oh victoria, it looks so beautiful. you have been in my thoughts the last few days. all my best to you!
“Sunday in New York”…Best movie ever =) LOVE your photos!
Great shots – NYC through your lens looks positively romantic! Hope you are taking care…
Beautiful pictures! Makes me want to book a flight to NY instantly!
These just brighten my day, as all your photos do. Even though I’ve been taking pictures for years, its because of your blog that I feel I’m seeing and shooting with a new perspective. Thanks for that, and hope you are taking care in this tough time. xoxo
So beautiful photos!
I hear the west village! We rented an apartment there in November via Airbnb. It’s one of the best neighborhood in NYC. Love all your shots.

Terrific photos! Makes me want to hop down to NYC!
As always, I completely adore your photos! They are the best!!
Sigh. I do love the west village.
Hope you’re holding up OK over there, Victoria. Big hugs xx
Your photos are fantastic! I went to New York for my honeymoon 3 years ago but was only there for 6 days – looking at these photos is making me really want to go back! x
Love your hot sauce picture and the street map on the brick wall picture. Hope you had a blast!

So sorry about your dad. Looks like you had a beautiful time in NY.
That’s like being dropped into paradise!! Love these shots and it makes yearn for NYC. We lived on the corner of 5th Ave and West 12th St. Not far from where you are. What a fabulous apartment. I really love your shot of that old wall map. Everything is awesome and interesting. Pruxxx
Great photos! It makes me wish I was in NYC at this very moment!
Absolutely gorgeous shots of NYC. I am so jealous of that Joanna’s apartment. Yours looks pretty fabulous too though! :)

glad you had a great time in nyc. joanna’s apt is as lovely as she is in person.
sigh. i adore NY.
my first apartment right out of college was on West 4th and Bank Streets. thanks for the walk down memory lane. xxoo
These are amazing! Why don’t I ever get shots like this…
What gorgeous, gorgeous photos!
Been thinking about you and hope you’re doing ok.
Ah we fell in love with the West Village on our USA/Canada trip last year and I fantasised about living there. Just beautiful. I love the details that you have captured. Have been sending you my thoughts during this difficult time.
I totally envy you Victoria.
Since I was a child, I’ve always wanted to come to New York – it’s all because of the West Village. Aside from my sister lives there, I just wanted to see how amazing the place is. My sister told me the area has fabulous small restaurants and several shops for tourists.
But I really would like to visit someday West Village’s Hudson River Park and Westbeth Artists Community, and of course it’s subway stations.
oh, je vous envie aussi!!
These village photos are so great! Makes me ashamed that I’ve not visited NYC in years! :)
Love these images Victoria… such good details of such a fabulous city!
You’ve done a marvelous job of capturing the flavor of the City…makes me want to order a plane ticket immediately!
I’m so happy that we’ll get to see more pics. Thanks.
What a fabulous photo journey! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Amazing set of photos. Wow.
These are great, Victoria! You’re making me want to go back to NYC and inspiring me to take awesome photos on my upcoming trips to L.A., Vancouver, and Portland. I love your blog so much!
I’m very sorry to hear about your father. I know what it feels like to wake up in the morning and realize that someone that you love dearly is no longer there. It’s the hardest thing in the world to deal with. You’ll always miss your dad, but it will get easier. Sending good vibes your way.
They are all really beautiful images of the city I live in..at times it is a love/hate relationship..but these images remind me to think of the beauty in the tension of the city.
I am so sorry to hear about your father. Sending you & your family lots of positive energy to get back on your feet.
