i spy: black and white and read all over.

the july | august issue of lonny is out, and i’m quite smitten. there’s a load of scrumptious features emphasizing the dramatic look of black and white, but pulled together in a way that’s almost soft, and definitely feminine. hints of pale blue and pink seem to offset the boldness of black, and white adds contrast. i’m inspired! so much so that i’m off to the paint store to hunt down the perfect, palest blue i can find (any suggestions, y’all?)! i think i need a change around here, and these images in lonny gave me the shove i was looking for!

lonny is awesome… sigh, luv them.

great recap, the final interior is my favorite. Love the nautical elements mixed with a 1920′s NYC feel!

I love those books in the fireplace. I would only put banned books in there to play on the whole burning-books-thing. I always want to read banned books to see what all the huff is about. I also love being a rebel…or at least feeling like one!

    much love,

Love the way the sharpness of the black and white contrasts with soft furnishes and flowers.

Check out Benjamin Moore’s Palest Pistachio. We have it in our bedroom, & it reads as the perfect super-pale blue.

Ah the palest blue is soo hard! I painted my office this very pale blue, but it was custom after a few discarded cans that just didn’t work! Good Luck! However, now I am reconsidering the blue altogether after seeing that high gloss dark paint in the office with that gorgeous chandelier!!! lovely! Thanks for sharing!

  15. Oh, I adore this post! Black and white is such a chic and memorable color combo and I am swooning over all these pictures. My favorite (although it is hard to decide) has to be the black painted office with that fabulous chandelier. LOVE!!!
