put a brick on it.

i saw this pretty and very old 19th-century Charleston home on dwell, and instantly swooned over this brick mantel. i love the modern painting they hung, too — just the right amount of interesting contrast. this beautiful home belongs to Josh and Helen who run the design and branding firm, Fuzzco. for a look at their renovation progress, visit their feature on dwell.

ohh yes- me like!!!
Love the brick!
Modern/Old works grand for me.
I loved seeing this in my Google Reader this morning! The painting in the first photo was done by Tim Hussey. You can see more of his work on his site: husseyart.com
Thanks for the post!
ha! hi helen. i love your place!! i’d love to share more sometime. i have your same kitchen chandelier and have yet to hang it – so you’ve inspired me to get it done!
i just tweeted with @fuzzco – i presume your husband and he gave me tim hussey’s link, too. thank you – i love that painting!
cheers!
Love the feel that it has, I am thinking of incorporating some brick into a fireplace design in an upcoming modern home we are working on. I was thinking of painting it but now maybe I will leave it raw.
me like painting! No- i Love it!
Fabulous! — and thanks for turning us on to Tim Hussey. Lovely work!
