fab friday.

this fab friday, let’s get a little groove on — what say you? you with me? i have really varied tastes in music and what i’m listening all depends on my mood. i love lots of new stuff, but i have some old favorites, too. what are you listening to these days? i’m always looking for something new to blog to!

brigitte bardot; Crosley Spinnerette Portable Turntable Suitcase via california home & design; love listening to the invincible eartha kitt; i can never get enough of the beatles; elvis costello: the first ten years — a personal hero of mine; roxy music’s avalon – my very favorite album of all time; and uma thurman and john travolta dancing in pulp fiction just makes me happy.

When I was a little girl, my Dad would sing me some Gershwin to sleep (“Summertime” and “Embraceable You”), and I have come to love those songs from that era — George and Ira Gershwin’s and Cole Porter’s. I also like the relatively more recent standards from Johnny Mercer, and Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
here’s some of my favourite songs these days
morcheeba – otherwise/ eurythmics – i saved the world today/ rupert holmes – escape (the pina colada song)/ the doors – spanish caravan/ eric clapton – layla/ joe cocker – you can leave your hat on/ erasure – i love to hate you

Also, I just cant stop listening to Townes Van Zandt (self titled album, the song “Fare Thee Well, Miss Carousel” is absolutely amazing!!) and Devotchka when Im a lil more in the mood to chill! Also, one of my consistent favorites these days has to be the Philly band Man Man!!
