i got some brand new specs! the very lovely folks at 1800specs offered me a pair of new eyeglasses in return for a sponsored review, and well, i was in serious need of some updated glasses, so i said, “why not?”. y’all know i don’t do a lot whole lot of sponsored posts around here, but this seemed like a no brainer. plus, i freakin’ love these glasses. they bring out my inner nerd, and y’all probably know i love a good pair of nerd glasses.
if you weren’t aware, when you get a prescription for glasses from your optometrist, it’s yours to keep, and you have the right to pick out glasses from anywhere you choose, including 1800specs. in fact it’s pretty easy – i just typed in the prescription online, and the glasses arrived via mail a couple of weeks later. The average pair of glasses in the US sells for $150, and of course many of us pay several times that — glasses have a pretty serious markup. It’s kinda nutty, and there’s no reason glasses can’t be made available for as little as $20 a pair — and 1800specs has loads to choose from — and not knockoffs, these are the same glasses you can get elsewhere. my glasses are called the roxy, and it really did kind of surprise me how much i love ‘em.
and, the very talented los angeles-based photographer kimberly genevieve was coming by to snap some pics of me this weekend for her portrait/lifestyle portfolio, so it was the perfect opportunity to share with you what the new 1800specs look like!
