split personality.

okay, so it wasn’t that long ago that i shared my new living room arrangement with y’all. remember? the black walls with pops of pink? well, i got a little restless (what else is new?) and painted over the black with some fresh white paint, and swapped around the furniture a little bit. i can’t help myself – i’ve got a decorating identity crisis, and can’t stick with one look for too long. i’m still (as always) struggling a bit with hanging art, and a few blind spots, but here’s the latest.

You’re space looks great! Bright, happy and inviting. I love the mix of pillows and throws. I get restless too…So far no repainting, but a lot of rearranging. xo

  2. Love it! I love white walls so much as I think they really let colour shine.

Love it! Really like your collection of cushions.

I think white is much better than black. Nothing can replace so much light in the room. (Especially now, when winter is at our doorstep:)

Hooray for your “split personality”, Victoria – you’re simply DOING what we all dream of: trying out, testing, etc. It has got to be liberating to re-think the canvas of your home several times a year and to actually follow through!

PS This latest version is looking fresh. Um, how many coats to cover up the black?
PPS Love that colourful folded blanket on your bench…any clues?

it’s just beautiful Victoria! and that blanket on your bench is so sweet. your cushion collection is as lovely as can be, & i think i am a wee bit more fond of the white in your oasis than the black. of course in my mind you can do no wrong. oxo

I like it! A lot! Especially that there are plants now :)

It’s beautiful. I love the cheerful white rather than the look-cool-at-first-but-easy-to-get-tired-of black and that it doesn’t look like every other white room on so many other blogs! Very nice & inspiring.

    It looks gorgeous Victoria!
The pink, black and white combo are very you and I love that you’ve gone with the white walls at the moment, that will be great for the winter… and who says you can’t repaint it black again in a few months!?
Oh, and I love you delicately patterned pink and white pillow in the second picture… is it woollen? I would love to know who it’s by if you can tell me… ?

Just found your blog today via Kirtsy…linked to your post on Jennifer Collier http://heythingschange.com/2011/11/things-changerecycled-paper-to-art.html and added you to my blog roll. I love your blog, your design, your articles, but I am most inspired by your age and career change at 45. I’m new to this blogging thing, but it has gotten me through this past year of “my kids are older and I am a nobody syndrome.” The only things stopping me sometimes is that rotten voice in my head telling me I’m too old to be starting something new. Thank you for reminding me that I’m definitely not!

  12. i know exactly how you feel.
I call it BDD Bi-polar decorating disorder, lol

So happy the black is gone! It looked wonderful in photos, but I wondered how you lived with it everyday and what it did tot hat wonderful San Francisco light streaming in through your windows…

One of your best yet Victoria! I loved the black when it was your dining room and it exhuded a little more sophistication, a slightly edgier atmosphere for pulling out the cigars & brandy after dinner by candlelight (lol), but the white is so creamy and lightens/enlarges the room effortlessly – your pink finishes blush ever so nicely too. Bravo:-)

I didn’t think you could have improved your place (and I LOVED the black) but you’ve done it one better!

  22. i would feel so at home here, victoria–it’s gorgeous. i love how personal and warm it is, and the pink! it is so NOW, isn’t it? this spring will be all about that pink in fashion!

I love the fabric on your bench! I love pink and black. I’m thinking of using that combination in my new apartment.

  24. joyous! I love your colour choices! I liked the black too, I really did and now I love this latest combination. Pink & yellow is eternally a favourite for me and I love how you’ve put it together with white, black and the neutrals. So beautiful! I also love the contrast of vintage and modern and the different textures – everything really, feeling very inspired xx thanks!
