please pass the plates.

i love this image of stark white plates on a sharp black wall by photographer david prince. makes me wistful for my long gone black dining room wall. i’d love to get this look. i thought about it once before, and maybe it’s time i start collecting plates for a wall of my very own.

abchao perhaps does it best — i love her well-collected dining room plate display (above, and below).

pretty blue & white collection via vtwonen; elisabeth dunker of fine little day’s home, as visited on unexpected guests (above, and below).

even a mixture of paper and ceramic plates can work well, via vtwonen; knack studios embellishes vintage plates with words, via remodelista; and some naughty vintage china from trixie delicious.

i love this posting and am so inspired by the photography of David Prince!
I adore those seven deadly sins plates!
Love the deadly sins plates! It would be awesome to serve food on them that corresponds!
I just loved this post…thank you! I love using plates as decoration. Right now I only have a rather large Italian plate on the wall in my kitchen, plus 4 plates over the door to our deck…whereas (before I renovated), I had a soffit over the cabinets and I placed all of my antique Quimper plate collection (which is now in my china cabinet in the dining room – and hardly anyone sees it!). Have to do something about that!
I love the 7 deadly sins plates – what a fabulous idea!! Thanks again!

So lovely!!!
Seems to me your buddy, Miss Congdon, rocked this look early and really well in her kitchen. If memory serves.
you are quite right! lisa rocks the plate wall! :)
Who would have thought plates could be so darn cute as wall art? I love it!

I would love to get out my collection of wedding china (mine, my mom’s, my mom-in-law’s) and display it on the wall. Alas, my wall are FULL already. I’m wondering how difficult (and dangerous?) it would be to display plates on a ceiling. Since I’m out of wall space and since I have a small collection of water stains on my ceiling, I’m starting to think I am on to something.
i think that could be pretty cool – if they were nice and secure! :)
Have you been to the Viceroy in Santa Monica? Kelly Wearster did the interiors and the outdoor pool area has an amazing collection of plates on the wall on black (in fact that top david prince photo looks like maybe it was taken there?).
you can see it here in the top pic!
