Prepare For Serendipity.
Prepare yourself for serendipity, in partnership with SmartWater.

because i’m a blogger, the lines between my work and personal life are constantly blurred. when I’m out trying to ‘play’ I’m constantly being inspired for ‘work’ by all that’s around me. and that’s okay with me – i like life intersecting art! One way I prepare myself for serendipity is to always have a camera on hand — whether it’s a Polaroid, my digital camera, or my iphone, I try to stay ready to capture inspiration as it happens.

you’re running around the city, and you never know where a day will take you, or what you might discover. a red wall, a blue bike, the blur of a yellow coat flying by. those moments are unexpected joys and i like to be prepared to capture them in an instant! always leaving yourselves open to possibility can very often turn into one very surprising and original blog post. A whirl of color, a style worth sharing. It’s smart to be prepared for those moments you can only capture once in a lifetime. i like to call it being prepared for serendipity.
what are your favorite moments of serendipity? what do you do to keep prepared for them?

Sad to see that Coca Cola bought you. And be careful with your pictures, see what they did to Kaj Maney in the comment section here: https://www.facebook.com/smartwater/app_149208851870270
i’m very sorry you feel that way, melanie. i was not bought, i was sponsored so i can continue to bring you fresh, original content every day as a full time blogger.
hmm. i’m a little put off by the previous commenter.
much like many other publications and broadcasts, i get to enjoy your blog for free since you are sponsored by advertisers.
i also appreciate that, unlike many bloggers, you are very clear about which posts are sponsored.
i’m glad you get to make a living doing what you love and that i get to enjoy the fruits of that arrangement.
(but i might get a little annoyed if you start advertising Coly 45 and cigarettes.)
love, love, love the colors in today’s posts.
thank you kathleen. i appreciate your support. it’s true that i work very hard every single day of the week to bring you interesting content. and no one pays to read the blog — it’s free, unlike magazines. without sponsorship, i would be unable to make my living and provide you with largely unsponsored posts. you’ll never see colt 45 or cigs here. :)
very well put.
The colour combo of these photos is fantastic. And I agree with Kathleen you put alot of work into your blog and posts so it is great that you can be paid for it.
As for your q, I don`t really prepare for my moments, but like you I always have my iphone on me to jot down notes of things that inspire me and take photos. However, I have to say I need to get better at taking photos of us, I was just at a great party and didn`t take any pictures, but when I was out shopping I took tons of photos of details for our house. Go figure!
Congrats on the smart water sponsorship! Their Jennifer Anniston ads are nice.

I love these photos of you, Victoria! You have the best smile. xo
xo, thank you anna!
Love the photos you put together for this post – they are the epitome of summer :)
PS. One thing I love about your sponsored posts is that it’s so clear that they are. You aren’t trying to hide it at all. Keep up all of the hard work. xx
I am sad to see any negative comments about your sponsorship, I love the post and I’m glad that you are sharing bright, creative goodies for us every day!
That coat is awesome by the way ;)
Oh how I love this post! I always try to have my mind open for serendipity moments while out and about here.
That bike bell is the cat’s meow!
Love this post Victoria! You look wonderful! (And well said, above! ;)
Oh how I love this post! It is so true how inspiration can you flood you at times…and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (like those very shoes you are wearing…love!) My favorite moments of serendipity are when it’s just me and my pup, Mr. Harvey, having a picnic in the park and he gets to discover all of the new smells, sights and sounds. Just love to see him enjoying himself. (sigh) So BEAUTIFUL!
look at you being all adorable! i vote for more pictures of you on here.
and god bless the iphone for helping us all capture inspiration. that and a good notebook!
I almost always have some form of a camera on me too. Also a notepad. You never know when inspiration might strike, and I’d rather be prepared to write it down right away then try to remember that stroke of genius I had while I was in the grocery store (since I never can).
Yes! A notepad and pen are essential.
I like seeing pictures of you, Victoria :)
PS- I love that coat!
I love this post, HOW FUN!!
Keep doing what ya do, it is fabulous!!!!

Love this post Victoria! You look amazing!
xo, girl!
Love the post and love what you do. You are a constant source of inspiration. I personally think your sponsored posts are über-clever & most of us bloggers dream of the day when we can do it as a full-time job. Carry on, Blog Queen, carry on!
p.s. That coat is the business! Where in the world did you get it?
ha! thank you brett! and the coat is from anthropologie a few years back. :)
Moment of serendipity? Would it make you puke if I were to say the night our only mutual friend invited my now-fiance to the masquerade ball we were attending at the Victoria and Albert Museum. I didn’t know anyone else and it was, at the time, quite out of character for me to say yes to that sort of invitation on a work night and he was a last minute invitee. Now we have an awesome son and will marry in a month. Yes, puke, quite right ;)
As for visual serendipity – it happens all the time, doesn’t it? And what I use to record it is, like many I guess, just keeping my iphone in my pocket.
But it is probably somewhat circular I think: by having the phone, plus a blog or instagram, opens you up to *noticing* those little, fleeting moments of serendipity, no?
I do worry a bit that by grabbing one’s camera or phone to record those moments we destroy them a little, though.
that is serendipity for sure. and not puke-worthy – happy ending!!
Love this post! So happy and inspiring. I find serendipity in heart shaped leaves, and mint green picnic tables. Rose lemonade and ice cream sandwiches. <3
You look so gorgeous in those photo of you on the bike. You are such a sensational woman of multiple talents. Thank you always for all your sharing on your blog, it brings me pleasure each day.
thank you, malka! that is so sweet!

my iphone is my go to for snapping up serendipity ;)
you are so so so adorable! this makes me want to put on bright clothes and run all around! thanks for sharing!
haha! i’ll do it with you! :)
It’s a great post – this is how a sponsored post should be – it feels less like a sponsored post, but the fact it is one is upfront.
thanks!! that’s what i was going for. :)
You look adorable- love these Victoria! xoxo
thank you kyna. xoxo
