studio spaces: jen garrido / aka jenny pennywood.

a few weeks ago rena tom and i took a little makeshift field trip out to the studio of fine artist jen garrido to check out some of jen’s / aka jenny pennywood’s textile designs. i love a good studio tour, and jen’s light-filled space was just what i imagined from someone with a prolific talent for beautiful and colorful paintings, paper goods and textile design. it was a tad chaotic, as all proper artists’ spaces should be, and a great mix of hi-tech and neon meets piles of squished out paint tubes. jen paints with her brushes, but also designs on her mac, sitting at an old vintage paint-chipped chair.

in early 2008, jen created and named her alter art persona Jenny Pennywood as an attempt to keep her fine art painting career and her graphic design, illustrative career separate. Over the last few years, Jenny Pennywood has created paintings for anthropologie, several prints and products, custom design of wedding and event paper goods and details, home goods and pattern design. she’s also shown her paintings both nationally and internationally. for more of jen’s fine art visit her website, and pop over here to see more work from her alter ego jenny pennywood.
