THE JEALOUS CURATOR: ART GOES HERE.
is it too soon for more black walls? no, of course not! i’ve hung art in a black bathroom, a black dining room, and today – a black kitchen {photographed by heidi lerkenfeldt}. ok, here we go:
wow. those are some really beautiful, really big walls! so, just to shake things up, i’m going to hang some really tiny art. i couldn’t decide on a grid, or one long line – it really could go either way:
these lovely drawings are by american artist leanne shapton. they’re from her series, ‘saturday flea markets + tag sales’. that’s right – every saturday she draws the objects that she finds at flea markets. so awesome, no?!
ok, let’s stay on the tiny theme. these pieces are inspired by all sorts of little things from the world of science & nature:
spores, hives, and atoms in ceramic form – slightly larger than their actual size, of course! i have to say, i’d be quite tempted to clear off those counter tops, and fill them with this stunning work by brooklyn based artist pamela sunday.
but now, it’s finally time for something really big on those really big walls:
huge donuts!!! these gorgeous, large-scale oil paintings by emily eveleth would be perfect in here – um, how would you not run out and get a jelly donut every single day if one of these was hanging in your kitchen? in fact, i might go and get one right now! you’re going to too, aren’t you!? ok, go, and i’ll meet you back here in two weeks ~ danielle {the jealous curator}

What fantastic art! Oh my those doughnuts though…YUM! Any idea what the name of the paint is that was used? I’m looking for that exact shade for my guest bedroom! :-)
i’m not sure… although i’d love to know too! (sorry – that totally didn’t help you!)
OMG, those doughnuts photos are pornographic! Ha! Wow.
they are indeed! no one mixes donuts and sexuality quite like emily! ; )
It’s never too late for a black wall. Love this post.

I love Emily Eveleth’s work. Saw some at Smith College (her alma mater) – my friend and I were close up and he didn’t ‘see’ the donuts until much later. Meanwhile, who makes those cabinets? They are so simple and straightforward!
i am of no help this week! i don’t know the paint color, OR who makes the cabinets! they are fantastic though!
Those donut pictures are to die for!
