tuesday’s girl: unexpected layers.

these images may be from j.crew’s 2009 holiday catalog photographed way down south of the border in a very wintery chile, but for me the styling remains pretty timeless. i love the unexpected layering and colors — sequins, sweaters, lime green, pink, puffys and maybe best of all, paired with worn-in and faded denim. j.crew is pretty great that way — while they always seem to be ahead of the trend, their look is undeniably recognizable, and yet still unique. even in 2013 you can create your own spin on these layering ideas, adding pieces from your own wardrobe collections and come up with something individually, uniquely you.

Love this post. Having recently moved from California to New York, it’s so evident now that I have no real warm clothing so these are exactly what my outfits have been like recently, just a bunch of layering and hoping I look as put together as these gals! :)
