THE JEALOUS CURATOR: ART GOES HERE.
ok, we’re shaking things up today! when i saw this image on poppytalk’s pinterest board last week, i knew that art had to go here:
right!? i have a thing for surfboards that are so well designed, they could double as art – so if i were to put any artwork on that beautiful white board, it might look a little something like this:
you’d blend right into the jellyfish and coral reefs if portland based artist yellena james was drawing on your board! oh, so peaceful and insanely vibrant all at the same time.
i have loved the tiny, paint swatch, paintings of california based artist seonna hong for ages – but i’d be pretty tempted to blow one up and pop it on that board. her little worlds are enchanting, and her color choices are perfect. perfect!
the reason that american born, belgium based, artist christina vantouz popped to mind for this post was because i wrote about those three prints, at the top, in 2009. i remembered the shark piece, and thought it would be perfect (although, i wouldn’t want to give the sharks any ideas!). but when i went to her updated site, i found all of these fantastic line drawings. black lines, white board, girls in bikinis? works for me! (and not a shark in sight).
well there you go. art goes on surfboards! who knew? see you in two weeks with more art – maybe on a wall next time. maybe. ~ danielle (aka the jealous curator)
