this room, all grown up.

i’m rather obsessed with christine dovey’s modern baby nursery. except i want it all for grown-up me — SO I’M GONNA MOCK ONE UP. i can’t quite swing the price of an original serge mouille swing arm light fixture let alone a pair, but maybe i could fake it, with a couple of these fixtures. sorry, stuffed animals, you’re going to have to be left behind for baby. i need to make room for some adult cushions — like these new furry friends. and i know where to get a lovely white pouf, and a flokati rug. now i’ve got to contend with finding that gorgeous french daybed. sigh. this is going to be as close as i come to this little slice of decor perfection. bravo, christine dovey on one very beautiful room!

sources: 1. i couldn’t find ‘love’ (story of my life) but i did find this ‘goodnight’ wire sculpture from anthropologie, and that works just fine; 2. a pair of IKEA PS 2012 black wall fixtures (just $49 bucks each!); 3. this pale pink luxe faux fur pillow; and 4. the gray ombre luxe faux fur pillow, both from anthropologie work nicely in place of the furry stuffed friends; 5. i really love the reproduction french daybed christine used from black rooster decor, but perhaps this louis daybed from ballard designs is just a tad less if we’re keeping to a budget version here; 6. serena & lily’s moroccan white leather pouf is ideal; and 7. their white flokati rug is just perfect, too; and ONE LAST THING — 8. i’m going to spring for the tom dixon etch shade pendant lamp. why not, i’ve saved everywhere else!

  1. Thanks so much for the mention! And we’re stoked to have had our daybed featured in the amazing room designed by Christine.
    Love your blog!

Love the room! It looks so cozy :) Hope this isn’t misguided, but in the collage perhaps you meant Imitation: the sincerest form of flattery? Mockery doesn’t capture the beautiful translation you made from one room to another.
I always look forward to seeing your posts show up on my feed; the spaces are gorgeous!

  3. SO fantastic! i featured christine’s home on my blog last week {along with about half of the blog world} but it is too good not to share. seriously adore the room you have designed.

  4. Thank you so much for posting this!! I’m always pinning beautiful nurseries – not for a baby, since I don’t even have one – but because some of them are just so lovely that I want them for me :). I pin them on one of my secret boards so no one thinks I’m preggo!

Dreamy, I want to take a nap there!

  7. That Ballard Designs daybed is quite cute. Not going to lie, I want to paint it deep teal!

  8. Hi Victoria,

Your email saying I won the the Nude Audio speaker was a pleasant surprise since I never win anything. LOL You made my day! I will email you with my info. And I love this room design and your “get the look” suggestions.

  9. Thank you so so much for featuring my nursery- beyond honoured!!!!

    Some sourcing info:
The sconces are actually knock-offs and were purchased at Black Rooster Decor, as was the daybed. And the word art was ordered through Gleena Ceramics:)

Thank you again and love how you transformed the room into such a beautiful adult space!

  10. Love this daybed, this room is sparking lots of great decorating ideas!

Love the idea of shag pillows! Instead of a rug that is deep commitment. I think I’ve some faux fur scraps, so… you’ve inspired me again!
