i’ve got a real itch to travel, and when i land i’d like it to be someplace warm and sunny. as soon as i turn in this book i’m outta here — i’ve planned a trip to maui for some much needed rest and relaxation — swimming and snorkeling in warm salt water, lots of good books, barbecuing on our little lanai — kind of doing a whole lot of nothing at all. in the meantime, i thought it would be fun to go there in my mind for a while and round up some surf shack style. sometimes the accommodations in the islands are a little, shall we say, a little downtown don ho, but if i had my own beach house, i might need to modernize my version of island style just a wee bit.

  2. It’s time to bring back some plants!

I have nothing large, green and leafy at the moment, but now that my book is published, a new plant won’t get neglected.

It’s always been my ultimate dream to live in a little place on the beach, and this post is certainly rekindling that desire! Oh, that kitchen… to die for. Sigh.

Oh a beach house would be a dream. But at least we booked Maui for May!

Love the joe schmelzer picture. Do you know where I can get the beautiful steel/walnut(?) chairs from?
