cheers to the weekend: joshua tree.
chicago-based photographer anna zajac is back with her series cheers to the weekend. i’m so excited about this week’s post, because she’s been to california’s much-beloved joshua tree, an outpost for artists and musicians and someplace high on my wish to visit list, and she’s taking us along for the ride. anna spent her time in joshua tree in an airstream owned by an artist named Shari and she booked the place through Airbnb. talk about the ideal way to visit the desert — it’s just the perfect kitschy fit — a cozy, quiet glamping getaway just 20 minutes from Joshua Tree village and 30 minutes from Palm Springs.
you can enjoy a glamping adventure in this 1974 International 30′ Airstream Trailer shari found in need of a lot of TLC. It’s been a work in progress + labor of love and now her trailer decorated in vintage-inspired treasures hosts many happy traveling airbnb’rs. the airstream boasts views of the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains — the two tallest mountains in Southern California, starry nights, on quiet dirt road 1/2 mile off 62 highway. both her airstream trailer and a main cabin are available on airbnb. The cabin, a Sears kit home from 1960, went solar with Sungevity and has been making electricity from the ample sunlight in Morongo Valley since 2013. There is also a firepit, for warm evenings under the stars. i am so in! thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us anna! for more wonderful weekend adventures with anna, visit her website.
