a month by the lake.

via sacredlotus.

sometimes i dream about a month by a lake. in a cabin, or some rustic old lodge. kind of like dirty dancing, but maybe with a little less dancing. just picnicking, and canoeing and hiking through the woods. drinking sweet tea on really warm evenings, and watching fireflies in the summer sky. i grew up in southern california, and have no firsthand knowledge of this whatsoever. it’s all in my head. but this is what i imagine it to be like. did you have a summer camp? what was it like?

hello friends, it’s nicolle here from sacred lotus photography. lately i’ve been reading a lot of pin it forward posts from different bloggers all over the web. everyone has been sharing what home means to them! i call portland, oregon my home and today i would like to share with you the work of a fellow oregon photographer, danielle hughson.

danielle captures the magic and beauty of oregon perfectly on film. her images have such a soft dream like quality about them that i just love. i hope you all enjoy them as much as i do. have a fantastic weekend!!! oxox nicolle

have you been following the pin it forward posts? there’s like 300 of us, so it’s a lot to take in, but oh, so worth the time. i’m so impressed with the pinterest pinboards that have been put together by all of you participating! i think what i like best about pinterest is the feeling of sharing, and discovering all the beauty of the world (and the web!) at our fingertips, and finding friends with similar interests and impressions of all that’s around us.

sacred lotus.

hello again friends, it’s nicolle here from sacred lotus photography. it’s almost berry season here in oregon and I have to admit it’s one of my favorite times of the year! from june through september, oregon’s willamette valley blushes with berries. red raspberries, black raspberries, marionberries, evergreen blackberries, boysenberries, blueberries, and loganberries! fertile, well drained soil, favorably timed spring rains, and summers that are warm in daytime and cold at night, produce berries that are sweet, plump, and happy.

mainemomma.

each year my family and i go to a few local farms and pick buckets full of plump ripe berries. i do a lot of baking with them. i also like to freeze them and use them for smoothies! last year i wanted to make homemade organic strawberry jam but never got around to it. this year i’m gonna make it happen!

do any of you have a favorite berry recipe you would like to share? if so please leave it in the comments, i would love to try some new recipes!!

happy tuesday!

blissful inspiration

good morning to all!  this time of year i am always drawn to beautiful, fresh greens.  it has been raining like crazy in portland, so i like to see the brighter side of things…with all this rain, beautiful green is sure to follow.  how is that for being an optimist?
