i uploaded this pretty cath kidston fabric swatch, and the My Image Inspiration tool gave me the complimentary pale pink shades i was hoping to find, and then some suggested paint colors. it’s fun, and kind of addicting! so next, i tried the My Image Inspiration tool on the palette of this bedroom corner, and it worked really well again. give the tool a try — it’s fun, and pretty darn useful, too.

i love this image of stark white plates on a sharp black wall by photographer david prince. makes me wistful for my long gone black dining room wall. i’d love to get this look. i thought about it once before, and maybe it’s time i start collecting plates for a wall of my very own.

the new issue of uppercase magazine is out, and this one is definitely good on paper! this issue (i can hardly believe it’s already issue no. 12!) focuses on the art of paper, and careers in that time old tradition of ink on paper. you remember that, don’t you? i contributed an article about the Danish paper company Rie Elise Larsen, after having had a most inspiring phone conversation with partner Mette Brix-Riisager all the way over in denmark. but check out the entire issue for some truly beautiful photographs and stories.

janine vangool of uppercase also hosted an amazing and fun mini party at alt summit this year, and took some notes on all of the great panel discussions, so if you’d like to check those out, pop over here. thank you janine, for a really wonderful event!

so last week i shared these amazing bulbs and vintage fixtures etsy shop trampoline put together. and this week, i went out and got some edison, or often called filament bulbs for myself. i had a couple of vintage bedside lamps hanging around with some sad looking shades on them, so i threw off the shades and let them run bare! i love the way they look! they sit upon my vintage black dresser and hang out with my eyeglasses and baubles. i think everyone is quite content.

yes! i want to live in dottie angel’s world! she is a diy genius {as is her real-life alter ego, tif fussell}, and i cannot imagine a cozier place to spend the holidays! her house, also known as “mossy shed”, is full of crocheted doilies, floral patterns, paper lanterns, and vintage bits and bobs as far as the eye can see!

oh so dreamy! well, if i can’t actually be at mossy shed for christmas, i can get the next best thing. an inside glimpse of the life of dottie angel through this lovely book – volume 2 in the suitcase series by uppercase gallery:

martha stewart has a gift wrapping challenge going on, and when i saw the something’s hiding in here submission, i about flipped my lid! these lovely ladies are the most clever bits of vintage-inspired diy wrapping paper i’ve seen in a while, and you know i love my vintage portrait paintings. so these, well these are right up my alley. shauna & stephen from something’s hiding in here have another variation on this them, which is also pretty awesome, and also a diy tutorial on how you can make your own portrait wrapping paper. if you want to vote for them (or any of the other very lovely contenders) pop on over to martha stewart.

the first issue of the brand new swedish home style magazine Hemstilat is out, and a few of us bloggers (like benita from chez larsson) are gracing the pages. i was sent a copy of the issue, and now i just want to get my hands on a subscription, which is very often the case with me when i read european shelter magazines. like Hemstilat, they’re just inundated with great home decor ideas, uplifting color, and DIY tips.
