flickr faves.
i’ve been so busy with the move and decorating lately, i’ve barely had time for my other obsession, photography. and a big part of that is my flickr favorites. finding inspiration from the constant flow of talented photographers on flickr is a favorite pastime of mine. here’s my most recent set of favorites – a combination of urban realism, and fantastically, simple beauty. enjoy.

flickr curator: teabutterfly.
Today our flickr curator is coming all the way from one of my favorite places in the world, the beautiful and magical South of France. We’re viewing a set curated by TeaButterfly, a wonderful blogger who writes a blog by the same name. I first got to know TeaButterfly via flickr and then found her lovely blog. One of my favorite things about doing these posts is discovering the new artists our curator shares, and today is no exception. Mercí TeaButterfly.
here’s what TeaButterfly has to say about her flickr faves: “the color scheme (lots of soothing white, with punches of yellow) is totally inspired by my current kitchen project. but more importantly, i think these faves are about art as a link between nature and culture, as opposed to nature vs. culture. and let’s not forget the occasional quirky picture that simply makes me laugh! Laughing everyday is SO important!”

flickr curator: abby try again.
this week’s flickr curator is one of my very favorite photographers, abby powell-thompson, aka abbytrysagain of flickr fame. abby shares her own work in her photography shop abby try again, and on her blog of the same name. i think you’ll find her lifestyle photography brings a smile to your face, and a sense of real joy in the way she is able to capture even life’s simpliest moments. i’m excited to share abby’s own inspiration through this set of her curated flickr faves.
abby has this to say about her curated set: “My flickr favorites are images I hold close to my heart. Whenever I need a boost in my mood, a bit of inspiration, or just need to calm down-I make a beeline for them! This particular set reflects my love of color, light, my love of moody shots, and my love of Japanese photographers. I also love adding shots that are a bit mysterious, or leave the onlooker guessing. I feel lucky to be able to glean inspiration on a daily basis from flickr.”

flickr faves.
i think the rain affected my moon, because when i looked at my flickr favs, the set was definitely a bit on the moody-blue side. but i like them nonetheless – kind of graphic, and vintage looking, with a bit of dark humor in there, too. at least that’s what i find when looking at these images at a complete set. if you’d ever like to curate a set of your flickr faves for me, be sure and drop me a line – i love a fresh eye!

here’s what tif has to say about her flickr favorites: “my ‘flickr lovelies’ are probably just the tip of a huge iceberg of crafty, vintage, colorful goodness out there in flickr land. when i stumble upon an image that encompasses all of the above, beautiful photographed and usually amongst a backdrop of white, it stirs the ‘creative soul’ within me. thus i am encouraged to continue down the crafty, vintage path i have chosen to take and positively, without a doubt, my day has been brightened.”
