there’s so much amazing stuff out there on the interwebs. i often feel like i have attention deficit disorder, because i go to look at one thing, and that leads to another, and then, well i get utterly lost out there. but it’s good stuff, and it’s inspiring and motivational. so i thought i’d leave you with some links each friday as i sign off for the weekend. some things to peruse leisurely while you’re enjoying your weekend coffee. i hope you enjoy the view…

whoa. that’s all i have to say about the latest issue of est magazine. issue no. 4 of est just knocked my socks off. if i could pin it i would pin almost every single page. if you’re a scandinavian design lover-freak like me, you gotta go look at est — like right now. and subscribe — it’s free! est is just amazing. i’m still processing all the goodness, but had to post about it right this minute.

oh, and on a side note: this Safari Chair by Kaare Klint they featured. i need it — along with a few of these other very lovely items. thanks est — more to add to my very long existing wish list!

it seems like eons ago, but last summer i spent some time in amsterdam, but i couldn’t chat about it because i was on a special assignment for anthology magazine to cover the city, so it was a bit on the hush-hush. but the new issue of anthology is out, and my story lives on its pretty pages, so now i can tell you what a wonderful trip it was! the story includes a shopping & dining reference guide, in case you happen to be headed to amsterdam anytime soon, including the amazing 9 straatjes (or 9 streets) — blocks and blocks of some of the best cafes, boutiques and vintage shops i’ve ever come across.

the new issue of uppercase magazine is out, and this one is definitely good on paper! this issue (i can hardly believe it’s already issue no. 12!) focuses on the art of paper, and careers in that time old tradition of ink on paper. you remember that, don’t you? i contributed an article about the Danish paper company Rie Elise Larsen, after having had a most inspiring phone conversation with partner Mette Brix-Riisager all the way over in denmark. but check out the entire issue for some truly beautiful photographs and stories.

janine vangool of uppercase also hosted an amazing and fun mini party at alt summit this year, and took some notes on all of the great panel discussions, so if you’d like to check those out, pop over here. thank you janine, for a really wonderful event!

the new issue of rue magazine is online and ready for your perusal. the january issue of rue features some very lovely home tour, indeed, and i found a plethora of brand new ideas. there’s even one home that’s on an extremely small, but very clever scale. have a look.

i am all for literacy. in fact, i might be able to support the book industry all on my own. it’s a little out of hand, really. i don’t just buy one book at a bookshop, oh no — i rarely leave without at least three. it’s a bit of an addiction, but one i’m prepared to live with. and i have no shame about it. books are beautiful, books, i think are forever. i have an ipad, but i don’t read books on it. and i’ve heard all the arguments for it, and i understand them. but i still love a hard (or soft) cover book in my hands. i like the tactile feel of it. and i like decorating with books, too. i think they’re interesting and tell a lot about a person. one of the first things i do when invited to someone’s home, is check out there bookshelves. here’s to books!

Llamas’ valley, or Lamų slėnis is an e-magazine about “perfect places and imperfect people. It’s about inspiration, creativity, joy, cosiness, delicious life…”. it’s full of Lithuanian design, photography and inspiration featuring creative studio spaces and homes of creative folk, and this issue includes a wonderful Q & A with one of my favorite bloggers, Emma Fexeus of emma’s design blogg.

the new issue of online magazine covet garden features the home of the family behind bookhou at home – a favorite etsy shop of mine. their home, the shop and their designs — all of it wow me. so beautiful in its simplicity and vintage-inspired style. here’s a look, but hop on over to covet garden to see the whole wonderful home tour. and be sure to check out the bookhou at home etsy shop, too for a look at their stylish fashion and decor accessories — i’m just in love with their textiles!

and a few more after that! so pretty! it didn’t take long before i was addicted to tracking down the next issue. it can be tricky to find on this side of the ocean, but’s it’s worth it! (of course, you can always order it online). issue after issue i am blown away by the beautiful photography, quirky articles, and the fabulous combination of fashion, music, art and craft. somehow they make all of it work together seamlessly:

see? sock pets, swimsuits and caravans all existing happily together! and with modern, yet vintage, spreads like this (all about brooches & pins, from issue 33) how can i not have a girl crush on frankie!

gah! love!!! the other very crush-worthy thing about frankie, is that they do an artist feature (often several pages long) in every issue. i’m pretty sure that frankie and i could be bff’s because we write about the same people all the time. here are a few of my favorites (yep, it’s three girl crushes within a girl crush!):

well, kids. we’re officially back. i was almost back yesterday because i never got the memo (ahem!) that it was a holiday. i must terminate someone immediately. oh wait, that would be me. i should keep up on these things a bit better. alas, i digress. blame it on the holiday fog surrounding the hemisphere of my head. but i feel like i need to say something. say the quiet thoughts loud, with the hope that saying them out loud to you the readers, may perhaps give me the gumption to actually follow said resolutions. so, without further ado:

• do the crazy untried and true stuff. like paint your house polka dotted (via life magazine). ask “why not?” much more often.

• live wholeheartedly and with Vulnerability and a lack of fear. fear holds me back. i don’t want to be held back from the things that are important to me because i’m afraid. i saw this ted talk with brene brown and thought it was magical.

• find connection with creative people that inspire and encourage me. collaborate with them on amazing projects. hang out, be social. let people in.

• ride my bike more. be outside instead of inside on the computer so much. you can’t make your computer do cool things for you, if you don’t know what wonderful things are out there to share.

• loads of little stuff that doesn’t matter here. if i do these larger things, the smaller stuff should fall into place.

• all in all, just take a little bit better care of me. feed myself whole meals, not ones i stand in front of the fridge to eat. take time to enjoy what i do have, and work harder at accumulating less. i don’t think i need all this stuff.
