okay, so as some of you may already know, i finally adopted a new dog, after many years of missing cooper (i do hope he approves!). meet miss lucy, who has stolen my heart. she’s a rescue dog, a tibetan terrier mix, but really more of a sweet muppet! after living on the streets, i think miss lucy deserves to be a little spoiled!

so, i thought it would be fun to do a little round up of must-have dog accoutrement and accessories. there’s way too much cute stuff out there for the canine (and felines!) in your hearts, but here’s some that i think would look quite smashing with many decors!

1. this first thing i really want is gonna come at a cost. i’ve gotta diy this one. i need to paint the inside of my armoire white and then wallpaper the heck out of it. i saw this one created by shannon fricke on decor8 and fell in love. 2. in order to do this, i think i need to pick up some of oh joy!’s new wallpaper designs for hygge & west. simply lovely! 3. and how cute would a couple of lisa stickley’s diy oil cloth garment bags look hanging inside? uh-huh, looks like i’ve got work to do!

4. i’d love alida from tush tush to join my portrait collection. i think she’d fit right in. i found her work through the jealous curator’s etsy gallery show. 5. truth is, i just had to have this print from fifi du vie, so i went ahead and ordered it. sometimes there’s just no stopping me. isn’t it so romantic? 6. i’d also really like to have this 1940′s fold-away card table from hindsvik — quite handy when the dinner party gets too big.

7. how very cute is this refinished vintage dresser from knack studios? really cute, right!? 8. this industrial looking halo chandelier from anthropologie could be just the ticket for my dining room (and affordable, too!) 9. i’ve definitely been coveting this collage cushion bench, also from anthropologie. if i win the lottery, this baby’s coming on home.

i’ve been on the hunt for a large format photograph for my dining room, and i love many that i’ve found, but the problem has been price. can you say cha-ching? i must have exceptional taste, because everything i like is way out of my price range. but then, i discovered the work of debbie carlos, who has an etsy shop with a great variety of large format prints available at very affordable prices. debbie is a photographer based in Chicago, selling these oversized (most are 48″x 36″) posters of her photographs printed on bond paper.

debbie has also started making these large, and very delicate color prints (above) which are printed on vellum, which makes these images even more airy. the subject matter is simple, but rather ethereal, and look great hung with just some simple clips (even more affordable than framing!), which just allows the breeze to kind of blow the paper gently, as if alive. love them! for more work from debbie carlos, visit her etsy shop.

1) studio space can sometimes feel a little cramped – but not in the house that jealousy built! just get yourself one of these fantastic/sneaky curtains and you’ll be all set! {bauke knottnerus}  2) oooh, i love this table so much, and i would definitely want it in my studio – although i don’t know if i could ever bring myself to actually paint on it. nope. i just don’t think i could do it. {shay carmon + ben klinger} sigh. alright, moving on, time to get creative:

3) lighting! every art space needs perfect lighting, and i think i’ve found it. not only does this “favourite things” pendant lamp cast a warm glow, it also allows you to show off your latest, and obviously, most favourite creation {chen karlsson}.  4) so, what to make today? time to have a seat in a comfy chair, upholstered entirely in australian tea towels, and think about the infinite possibilities ahead of you {suzie stanford}. and while you’re there, why not do a bit of doodling to get things going — or in this case, flip through a few insanely inspiring sketchbooks belonging to other artists: 5) thick paint, and hilarious thoughts make up the contents of this gem {martha rich}. 6) these images are from a series of nine collage books that were handed back and forth between artists, working with, and over top of each other’s contributions – who wants to try that? me too! {wafa}  7) any sketchbook that has stuff spilling out of the sides is all right by me! {ted mcgrath}. sigh. so good. ok, well, if we’re going to make anything like those books, we’ve got to get to the best part of any art studio – the supplies!

8) first stop – paris! this little shop in paris is filled with the craziest bits and pieces that any artist could ever hope to find {tombées du camion}. can’t make it to paris today? no problem, i have other options. 9) let’s start with a brand new box of hand-carved wax crayons {diem chau},  10) a pair of scissors, a thick pile of rainbow-hued construction paper {jen stark},  11) and obviously, you’ll need a few rolls of multi-coloured masking tape {rebecca ward}.

lastly, something that every great artist needs to keep those creative juices flowing –

12) lots of coffee, and chocolate/espresso cupcakes! {anselmo swan}

ok, now get in there and start making stuff – but please don’t get chocolate icing on that beautiful table!

there’s this really lovely design blog called fryd + design, and i just discovered blogger jeanette lunde has created a gorgeous Scandinavian design and lifestyle magazine to accompany her blog, entitled by fryd. full of stunning photographs, design ideas, and diy projects, by fryd is just so well put together and inspiring to peruse. bravo, jeanette! to read the entire 1st issue of by fryd, visit this website.

i’ve long been an admirer of textiles and accessories from new york-based hable construction. i also think their name is really cool, which founders susan and kate hable named after their great grandfather’s road construction business! i have yet to meet the hable sisters in person, but kate hable and i have been tweeting each other quite a bit, so i asked if i might share a glimpse at their beautiful products. hable construction is a textile design company that makes bags, home accessories, table linens, pillows, gardening accessories, and other fun and functional home accessories from their fabrics.

i love design boom, and they never fail to share with their readers some wonderfully imaginative designs from around the world. abitudini is a series of coat hangers designed by antonello fusè created from re-purposed chair backs. fusè transforms vintage chairs by adding a wire hanger on top of the chair back transforming it into a simple coat hanger. you can find them at resign. brings all new meaning to no wire hangers!

i was checking out rachel ashwell’s shabby chic website for some new bedding ideas, and discovered she has a really great inspirational photo gallery. one gallery is dedicated to the little details, and i just loved some of these beautiful images. gorgeous decor does come down to the attention to the little details, and i think these images are just lovely.
