and a few more after that! so pretty! it didn’t take long before i was addicted to tracking down the next issue. it can be tricky to find on this side of the ocean, but’s it’s worth it! (of course, you can always order it online). issue after issue i am blown away by the beautiful photography, quirky articles, and the fabulous combination of fashion, music, art and craft. somehow they make all of it work together seamlessly:

see? sock pets, swimsuits and caravans all existing happily together! and with modern, yet vintage, spreads like this (all about brooches & pins, from issue 33) how can i not have a girl crush on frankie!

gah! love!!! the other very crush-worthy thing about frankie, is that they do an artist feature (often several pages long) in every issue. i’m pretty sure that frankie and i could be bff’s because we write about the same people all the time. here are a few of my favorites (yep, it’s three girl crushes within a girl crush!):

i took a little gander over to light locations to see if they’d added any new dreamy locations to their repertoire, and was not disappointed. well, light locations never disappoints, now, do they? always big, beautiful fantasy homes to drool over. and this Beautiful large home near Canterbury, Kent is no exception. i adore those unexpected modern furnishings (and the cowhide rug!) mixed up in that very old home, and all that clean white space with touches of a lavender shade that’s almost gray. and this light location even comes with it’s own pink caravan and one very dreamy big claw foot tub! take me away!

4. i know i’d feel warm and cozy tucked into anthropologie’s cirrus duvet and bedding. 5. and i think this elli popp petal pond + dotty wallpaper could look pretty smashing behind the bed. 6. perhaps some pretty silver roses flanking the bedside, from emily chalmers’ caravan.

7. i think i’ll create an air of privacy, with anthropologie’s swatch book curtains on the windows. 8. and i think painting the room in a subtle combination of this paint palette from martha stewart would be oh-so calm and dreamy. 9. and one last touch — urban outfitter’s midcenturies tables would look quite darling as nightstands.

the other day, ez from creature comforts tweeted about this lovely illustration of a bird cage from clare owen (below), and it got me thinking about how i quite like the bird cage, as design motif. either as an accent piece of vintage decor, artwork or inspiration for a more modern mid-century modern lamp, the bird cage is seen all over the place, like birds of feather, flocking together, here’s a few examples of some interesting vintage-inspired bird cage finds.
