wanted.

i’m starting a new weekly post: wanted. we all have wish lists. stuff we don’t necessarily need, but we definitely want. sometimes i don’t even need to actually purchase these things. i just need them to inspire me, to ignite my imagination and help me create. but sometimes, i really, really want them, and sometimes it passes, or has fueled another fire. it’s okay to want, you don’t always have to have. but here’s what’s wanted this week around the house.

1. a whole row of beautiful penguin classics; 2. a few vintage bistro chairs for my garden, from Maison Rêve; 3. this gorgeous blue coral linen wall hanging from natural history.

1. i’d love this lindsey adelman pendant lamp for my dining room, via plush palate;  2. these mongolian lamb pillow covers from west elm are cozy; 3. i love this gorgeously soft klippan retro wool blanket from huset.

1. jennifer o’keeffe’s wall of fame photographic print from the beholder is super rad (found via the jealous curator’s guest curator set!); 2. charming fog linen tablecloths – i want a checked one; 3. i quite like this retro fun 8 x10 independence collage from ironside’s etsy shop.

so, that’s what’s wanted this week. what do you want? anything you want to share?

wednesday’s wall.

i’m back with another addition of wednesday’s wall – sharing ideas about hanging your art, and gathering a collection. this wednesday, i’m curating some artwork from the beholder, one of my favorite online art galleries. the beholder is great because their artwork is affordable, and they have a web feature where you can curate your own set, and save your very favorite paintings, illustrations and photographs for future reference. a great tool for figuring out how to begin a collection.

first up on my must have list, is this painting (above) by scott parry of mod icon twiggy. i wouldn’t pair her up with anything else – i’d just display her boldly on my black dining room wall! i want this so badly!!

then, on an opposite wall in the dining room, i might perhaps share a wonderful collection of these beholder artists’ work! i like this selection of paintings grouped together.

Hello lovely sfgirlbybay readers! I’m kinda giddy excited to be guesting over here today and want to say a huge thank to Victoria for the opportunity. :)

raining sheep.

If, during your travels around blogland, you happen to have stumbled upon my wee blog you will know that I’m a wee bit of a colour addict as well as an obsessive crocheter. When I’m not busy with my hook and yarn you can usually find me spending way too much time on Etsy, Flickr, Pinterest (yeah, I’m addicted too!) and the web in general, seeking out beautiful images and gorgeous colour palettes.

Madeline Bea Photography ~ red or gray art ~ Hadley Hutton.

I absolutely thrive on it and everyday I’m drawn towards something different, one day it could be classic red and white and the next could be pink, orange, peach and yellow! But every now and then one palette in particular will stick with me and I’ll obsess over it. At the moment that palette is yummy vintage greens ~ olive, sage, chartreuse and teal with punches of pink, mustard, red, orange or aqua. There is something about these colours together that screams summer and makes me think of picnics on hot days, gardens in full bloom with flowers glowing in the sunlight and lazy evenings watching the sunset… perfect!

studio choo.

studio choo is the beautiful online floral boutique of two best friends, Alethea Harampolis and Jill Pilotte (of the small stump, a longtime favorite of mine), who share a love for flowers that are just a little bit wild, things that are made by hand, and containers that are old and sweet.

and now the studio choo team have opened a brick & morter shop in here in san francisco, prairie collective, which they share with two other artists that make up the collective. There’s Annabelle of magpie & rye, who carries beautiful jewelry and housewares from lots of amazing artists, and there’s Lia of the cloak & cabinet society, who’s also part of studio choo and helps write for we like it wild on design*sponge.

The flowers arranged and sold by studio choo are locally grown whenever possible, and always fresh and seasonal. The containers include “one of a kind” vintage pots, hand-crafted vases from independent artists, and vessels reclaimed sustainably from nature. the prairie collective shop is stocked with a combination of small stump artwork created by Jill, floral arrangements, vintage goodies, and a growing selection of designs from other talented artists.

The ladies of studio choo create floral designs available for local bay area delivery, weddings, private parties, and events.  Shop online, and check out their floral arrangements for father’s day as well!
