i’ve been falling in love with modern art lately, and bright pops of color. and polkadots, too! must be the onset of spring coming our way. this fab friday i’m rounding up some springy looks i love.

so lovely, right? but i want, no i’m sorry, i need to hang some art in there! my first thought was to gather up a whole bunch of tiny, vintage looking portraits by oregon based artist elizabeth bauman, and hang them in a little cluster, like this:

love! oh, or maybe just three simple, absolutely gorgeous textile assemblages {all of which are 22”x18”} by vancouver based artist jessica bell. i think the colors and textures in these pieces are fantastic,  don’t you?!

see – gorgeous! now, the other option is to ‘go big or go home’! this huge {60”x48”!!!}  pen on canvas piece by korean born, brooklyn based artist il lee is definitely in that camp:

gah! amazing. and created using only blue ball point pen – kinda perfect for a home office, no?

if you know anything about me, you may know i grew up in southern california, heading to the beach every second i could. it’s where i find calm. so when i found out Hub Strategy, a San Francisco-based creative agency, had partnered with The Utility Collective to design their first-ever consumer product to support Sea Shepherd Conservation Society i was happy to tell you about it. the collaboration has produced ready-to-hang artwork printed on 12-inch x 18-inch maple veneer wood panels and is being sold at The Utility Collective. Ten dollars from the sale of each piece is directly donated to Sea Shepherd to help protect our precious sea creatures.

Sea Shepherd is best-known for their aggressive protection of whales and dolphins from illegal whalers, and is featured in the Animal Planet series whale wars. This collaborative project, from Hub Strategy and Utility Collective, reflects this protection of defending the defenseless. so go save a whale, or a shark, or…

i’m feeling my inner barbarella or something today. it all started with these silver psychedelic silver boots i can’t get out of my mind. if i could only find them (any tipsters out there?)! also, more than anything right now, i covet urban living’s gorgeous egg chair. so pretty, right? i love this image i love you to the moon and back via je ne sais quoi; and i’m quite drawn to this landscape print by nicholas hance mcelroy via mammoth collections. i’m also loving this 2012 lunar calendar from kin of kin. the good old fashioned way to keep track of the days…

yes! i want to live in dottie angel’s world! she is a diy genius {as is her real-life alter ego, tif fussell}, and i cannot imagine a cozier place to spend the holidays! her house, also known as “mossy shed”, is full of crocheted doilies, floral patterns, paper lanterns, and vintage bits and bobs as far as the eye can see!

oh so dreamy! well, if i can’t actually be at mossy shed for christmas, i can get the next best thing. an inside glimpse of the life of dottie angel through this lovely book – volume 2 in the suitcase series by uppercase gallery:
