Bag Me A Baguette.
I saw these great bread bags on Daily Candy and when I linked to the site, I just swooned over these lovely, bags of goodness. Choose from two very charming styles. Bamboo-bag is a young company, run by three friends, making cloth containers from naturally antimicrobial bamboo fabric bamboo fabric to replace paper and plastic products. Their first two Bamboo-bags are designed especially for carrying and storing bread. They’ll make you wanna take a stroll down to the corner store for your daily bread, just so you can look this cool walking back. Right? Here’s where you can find ‘em.

Just Bag It.
Oooh, Uppercase has some groovy bags on their site, and this Uppercase Book Bag just spells fun and makes being green, well, just great. And look, this one’s made just for me (oh, and I guess all the other S’s out there on the planet).
Draw on your own bag! This black cloth bag has a letter-sized looseleaf paper design where you can draw your thoughts and doodles. Or maybe your grocery list!
Then there’s the Sukie Sketchbook bag. I love this pattern with its fun font printed on a 100% cotton, fully lined bag. So cute and colorful. All of these great bags are available online at Uppercase.
Never Get Lost Shopping Again!
Rachel & Michael, the kindly folks at Maptote sent me this link to their cute cotton shopping bags. I’m a map and a bag hound, so I’m instantly big fan. I have quite a few bags, but they’re a great alternative to plastic bags so I keep lots around the house and in my car. Maptotes are a fun souvenir gift idea too. Delirious from too much shopping, you can simply refer to your handy Maptote to navigate your way back home!
On a side note, we all take our own shopping bags to the grocery store now, but I’ve been wondering what the policy is, say, in a department store or a drugstore if you’d rather use your own bags when leaving the register. Does anyone have any experience with this? I’m always worried they’d think I’m shopping lifting and I’d wind up with the Winona treatment (could it be possible she was ahead of the curve and just had an environmental conscience, even back then?). This policy shouldn’t just apply to groceries, right? Think of the number of plastic Gap bags out there!
Keep Calm To Go.

There’s been this widespread Keep Calm phenomenon happening – readers keep sending me links to t-shirts and tea towels with the calming phrase proudly printed on them. But, reader Barb took the Keep Calm message to a whole new level. When she received her Keep Calm and Carry On poster and hung it, she decided she’d really like to wear it, too. Using an embroidery hoop/chiffon screen print method, she created her very own Keep Calm messenger bag. And a secret, special touch – she added a red and white polka-dot lining. Thanks for sharing with us, Barb. Really amazing job!
Mad Bags!
We all need a cute, functional bag when we’re out there in the trenches doing serious shopping. Whether it be a flea or farmers market, or just running around the local Trader Joe’s, it’s a good idea, and very green, to bring along your own shopping bag. Enter MadBags. I found these fun totes and everyday bags on the ever fabulous Etsy and just love the prints used in these designs. MadBags owner & designer Sara Bennett has conveniently photographed her swatches and posted them on her flickr page. Not only do they look great, seem very well made, they’re also very inexpensive. You can also create a custom order bag, including some of these options to choose from:
• fabric choice – visit Madbags for selection
• style and design – choose from any of the listings in her online shop
• closure – magnetic snap,, snap, button/loop, Velcro, ribbon or fabric tie
• handle length
• pockets – interior and/or exterior

I’m a really addicted bag-o-holic, so I’ll be ordering the pink & brown one.
